YAY :j:j You're back!
Loved this thread, it totally changed my house & whole way of looking at my furniture.
The thread faded away, but I kept going.
I need to work out how to down load photos onto this new computer so I can show you all
-my collection of lloyd loom,
- my clothes horse,
-what I did with the trolley
-& my 'before' bureau....
I think I might just turn into the shabby chic thread version of holiday photos
Do you think the Board Guides could split the thread due to length - eg 'Shabby Chic II : the F&B years' ?I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
It's showing up now. Wonder why it didn't before. The bag is lovely, very pretty fabric.
(Oh, and I love the colour of your cupboards in the background of the pic!)

Wow! This thread has inspired me so much. Thanks to everyone who posted.
My projects for the moment are to paint cream the horrible dark chairs I was given a few years ago (and curse myself for getting rid of the dresser that came with it) and I'm going to hunt for an old dresser and some chests of drawers and give them the cream treatment as well. We've got a recycling centre near us where people often take furniture which you can buy for a few pounds - my Mum was narrowly beaten to an old pine chest this weekend which the other lady got for £7!
I'm also going to start going further afield to car boot sales to see what I can find.I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.

Well, I picked up the dresser last night that I won on ebay and am currently sanding it down. Got the top of the base sanded completely now (should have put on an apron as I'm covered in dust!) and it's looking good. I'm going to wax that bit, then paint the rest.
I took a couple of *before* pics and I'll take some more when it's done.0 -

I was wondering the same - giving things a new lease of life then selling them on...if my table and chairs makeover is a success I'll be scouring ebay/ freecylce and junk shops for more finds...People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
