They're lovely. I am SO desperate for a sewing machine.

I have NEVER SEWED ANYTHING in my LIFE before (truly, and I'm quite old lol), but at the weekend I had a practise and hand sewed these (oh, I have cross stitched btw!)

The problem was that the finish is really rough, after I had turned them back the right way to stuff them iyswim. Any tips?
So any of you clever lot can tell me how to get round that? Also what do you use to stuff things like this? (I'm not telling you what I used lolol!!)

I Bibbly. I think they look lovely. :T

When I made some hearts last year the finish was ok except the bit you have to leave to stuff it. So I glued a ribbon round the edge and disguised the ribbon join with a button. ;)Pic Here.

But that's because you is clever;) Just remember to leave enough margin of fabric to turn in the seam allowance and use littliest stitches you can:D And yes, they do look lovely!!!

wow i love all the bargains that have been picked up - our bootsales started last week but we still havent had a chance to get there yet and the stuff for sale is stacking up in the dining room!!

Kisto that is a lovely case and jst like my bookcase! I still love it and keep looking at it, rearrange the photos etc on top! :rotfl: I bet they say yes to the offer of £10 - it must be gutting to think it might have gone for 99p for them but if they arent willing to sell it for that price then why put it up!
Haribo i love your house - so many little bits to look at!! :D

They are very impressive for a first try well done!
When you turn them the right side out use a knitting needle or similar to run around the seams from the inside. Then give it a quick iron before you stuff. It makes the edges more defined.
When you cut the pieces leave a section of the seam allowance (a straight length by the point is easiest) slightly larger than around the rest of the heart. Then when you come to slip stitch it shut it will be easier to handle.
For stuffing you can use polyfil which is easy to find in haberdashers and sometimes called toy stuffing. There is also wool stuffing if you want to go natural but it is more expensive and can only be found online in the UK I think. Try adding a little musim bag full of lavender inside too.makes them smell gorgeous!

    Evening everyone,

You've all got some lovely car boot bargains today!

I have a question for you.

I was watching this item on ebay:

    1aa71hx0.jpg

I noticed the listing ended, so I emailed the seller. It turned out the seller cancelled the listing as there wasn't much interest. He's offered it to me if I'm interested but I don't have a clue what to offer. He says in his email "dont want huge amounts of money for it but I wasnt going to sell it for peanuts either". It was only on 99p when it ended. In all honesty I was just hoping for a bargain, so do you think it's cheeky just offering a £10 for it?

I actually don't have room for it really, but i can see the shabby chic potential! :p:D
I bought a similar one for £8 the other day. It's smaller that the one you have shown so I would offer £10-15.It would look lovely painted up.Good luck!
