I really like this style of plate and I've come across them several times of peoples blogs.
Does anyone know whether they are a particular name or make? I usually keep my eyes open at the car boots and charity shops but rarely see anything like them.
    Thanks in advance.

I have some things like that inherited from my parents, except with a pink band instead of blue. It says "Alfred Meakin" on the bottom.

Thank you for all the "plate" replies, they were really helpful.

I thought perhaps buying mismatched ones would mean I wouldn't feel so bad if one broke. I have had my current set of matching plates for about 12 years, used daily and all without a single chip until a month ago. I dropped a pan as I was emptying the dishwasher and it chipped or broke 4 of the 6 plates.

    Hope

Just had email saying that I can have the nest of tables! Great - now just to break the news to my OH who is getting worried as the house slowly fills up with bits of furniture waiting to be painted.

The guy said they are a mahogany veneer - do you think I'll be able to do something with them?

Sand them if your planning to paint them, it gives the paint a key.

No :( I went up to about £69 but realised it was fruitless as the original bidder really wanted it lol. Not sure what their maximum was, but it would have been higher than mine.
Too bad, I had big plans! Will keep on looking though :)

:rotfl: cat ! But you could point out how much money it would save ? Show him the 'befores' and 'afters' maybe ? Most men don't really care about interior design and are happy to go along with their partners choice.
