On the back of the F&B paint chart it does mention if the colour is cool, warm or neutral, which is a good help.
At the moment we have Crown soft cream emulsion on the walls and B&Q soft cream gloss on the woodwork. Am fancying a change to the woodwork, to lighten it up a bit, not keen on the B&Q own make paint, trying to persuade my husband that cheap isn't always good value;)0 -
I need a 'warm white' too... My kitchen currently has oak cupboards which I want to F&B... I have bought a couple of tester pots (but my shop only had the old range in) and they don't seem to be what I need... I am looking for a white or light cream... warm colour... which doesn't look like I have painted my whole kitchen with white emulsion!. Could any of you recommend the name of a colour I can try next?
Oh goodness - I am so scared of painting my cupboards. .. If anyone has done this sucessfully - I would live to see the pics0 -

Looking on the colour card- Dimity- stands out as being warm, not too cream and not too white and I think this is one of the colours Vintage Pleasure has used in her house.0 -

SOMEWHERE early on in this thread I posted photos of my painted cupboards but as the thread is now so HUGE and would take ages to find them, here they are again
Kitchen cupboards before:
After
F & B Green Blue oil based eggshell
Former yellow yucky pine dresser now painted F & B Ringwold Ground oil eggshell:
I've re-posted the photos to give you an idea of the F&B colours used. F & B Clunch was used for the kitchen walls (Modern Emulsion) and also for the wall cupboards (egg shell)0 -
just to say in Woolworths they had Old fashioned wipe clean tablecloths reduced to £5 (pink flower & blue flower) - they match the ironing board covers etc0
-
I recently painted my dark oak kitchen units in F&B Dimity (chose Dimity as my tiles were a slightly pinky tone of cream).
I will try to find the photos I posted on the DIY formum and re-post them to show you the effect I got. I was really pleased with it.
Keep tuned - I will be backThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -

After the floods our kitchen cupboards looked rank and our landlord refused to replace them, so I painted them and they look great now I am actually pleased I didn't get some new naff kitchen units (would of been done on the cheap) I used slipper satin on the skirting boards/door frames/fireplace etc as its a nice neutral colour which works with Cornforth. White was really scarry & stark.
The good thing with the F&B card is that they tend to group together all the colours that work with each other and if you go to the website and pick you colour there is a related products section where you can get suggested neutrals. Good Luck and make sure you let us know what you choose, post a pic as well
ps I've just realised I've rambled my way through 3 posts I'll shut up now !!!!!!
Thanks for that - I'll take a look at the related products bit. I've ordered the card, but missed this part of the site. Halls are tricky, because they are so big, and any mistake is going to be expensive, and we're going to have to live with it, so I'm very nervous.

1.Maybe you could make them into a big chalkboard?
2.Or if the kids artwork looks nice make it more of a feature. You can get some cheap frames from the charity shop and get rid of the glass.Just stick the actual frame to the door.Paint it all the same colour and maybe shabby them up a little by sanding back the edges. Then stick the artwork in the frame using blutack. You can then change them as you feel but they would look much prettier than just pinned up.
3.Another idea would be to wallpaper the doors. You could do it in a patchwork effect.Like I did in my daughters room.We went to B+Q and picked up a heap of free samples from rolls we liked. So all it cost was the paste.
4.You could make them into a huge notice board.Either by using cork tiles or by a bit of wadding and some fabric then ribbons crossed over to hold letters etc.
5.As it's the cupboard that holds all you bags and shoes you could even gets some hooks and add them to the front of the doors to hang any up your
pretty bags or shoes on.
I'll keep thinking but if you post a photo that would really help.
Vintagepleasure: I actually feel quite excited by your suggestions (and I've been feeling very low about the whole thing, as the hall and undercupboard stairs are the first thing everyone ever sees). I didn't think there was a solution. Thank you for taking the time to think on this: I'll try and get some pics posted. It's a big area, as there are three doors, and all a bit of a mess.
Ooooh. I'm feeling rather keen to get on with it. :j
