Value toothpaste or brand?

Do you think the supermarket toothpastes are just as good or do you think it's worth investing in a brand name like Colgate?
TBH, I've tried the likes of ASDA's Smartprice toothpaste at 21p - not a price to be sniffled at! I just wonder whether it is doing as good a job as the brands.
What do you think?

I use Sainsbury's or Tesco's own brand and they taste and work great.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

i agree..some people even dry brush their teeth. i think it is more the technique and how thorough you are rather than brand...Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0

I have been wondering this myself for a while. I have actually just switched from Tesco own to a branded toothpaste but wonder whether I am just wasting my money.0

Personally I use Tesco or Asda own brand whitening toothpastes and find them to be just as good as the branded toothpastes.
Generally speaking I'm not a fan of the "smart price" or "value" ranges as I find the products to be poor quality. The only value or smart price products I buy are kitchen towels, tinned toms, tinned kidney beans and butter.0 -
dry brush means literally that..no water or paste..can't see the point myself but i have seen dentists in the press saying it's more beneficial than using paste..apparantly your own saliva has enough power to kill any nasties..
but personally i prefer the minty fresh feelingMembre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
i used whatevers on special offer, whethers its colgate or sainsbury's own make. The white label stuff isnt too bad but im always a bit careful as to what we use as i have 2 false teeth and the OH has a capped tooth.0

Ask your dentist next time you're there. I personally use whatever brand name is on offer - some things I can't buy Value/own brand, some kind of psychological hangup, but I'm sure they'll have some kind of opinion. Also can you check the label for 'active ingredients'?0

I had this very thought. Unfortunately my dentist has had to temporarily move out of town so unless I hear differently in the next couple of days I am going to have to cancel my next appointment.0
