so, went in and spoke to the guy handling our case, he basically said, maybe they didn't understand the form, its tick boxes i pointed out, maybe her husband filled it in and she hadn't told him, pull the other one mate,

This is actually quite common, I don't know why, but when faced with a couple of tick boxes people get all confused. In my experience, it happens more with integrated cookers & hobs than anything else.

When are the people back off holiday?

Well personally, if i had dealings with an estate agent like that I would call round or phone the people you are buying from and tell them straight. If you want to sell your house, i suggest you sort your estate agent out. If i don't get an appology from them for their rudeness towards me and other members of my family you can kiss your sale goodbye!

I would also talk to them about the items on the list and say you want photos of ALL the items that will be left. If they don't sell to you they will be chasing the market down and at the moment their house is loosing money every day.

I don't know what part of the country you are in so can't give you exact figures.

Emma - well done on talking to the EA today, and well done for standing your ground.

Also, I think you're absolutely right not to play games. It's all very well not wanting to be screwed over (and quite rightly, too!) but I would strongly advise against suddenly dropping your price just before completion as some have suggested. Their bad behaviour doesn't warrant bad behaviour in return, it just warrants some common sense and values!

Assuming all goes well, make absolutely damn sure you get what *is* staying and what *is* going in writing, as part of the contract.

In-built items like dishwashers can be VERY expensive and hard to replace. Happened to me before I moved into my current place...there was a built-in fridge that wasn't working. He offered me money to replace it, but I demanded he do it because I know how expensive they are. Turns out that model no longer exists, so he had to have the whole cupboard area removed and a stand alone fridge put in. But I wasn't out of pocket, and that's the main thing!

Don't let any arsey EA tell you otherwise or make any promises - they can't be held to them.

:) Update us when you hear back.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

thanks again, i'm going to make sure that if they do agreet o leave the stuff that we get pictures of teh items or a list complete with description before we agree ona completion date. the vendors aren't back for another week so it will probably benext monday but i will update everyone, i don't know why but i just have a feeling that this is only going to get worse. i think the problem is that they really don't want to move and they have made this house lovely,s o i understand them acting like this in a way but its unacceptable. i intend to hold my ground and i am 100% willing to walk away if they do not agree to either leave the items or compensate us financially. this is not the first hurdle we have had to overcome with these people and i am doubting it will be the last so in a way if ti does fall through then maybe its for the best before we buy and get even more screwed over. i don't like dealing with people who i feel are dishonest, i feel really unnerved now and quite honestly if we hadn't spent all the money on searches and surveys i think i would just walk away now to avoid whatever tehy are going to try to pull in the future.

thankyou all very much for your help, i really appreciate all the support and affirmation! if nothing else i think this forum is great simply to allow people to vent their frustrations and make them feel better, so thankyou all!

This beggars belief... that you can have financial issues and still have a holiday - and that you can have a holiday (and be uncontactable) during an important event like a house sale, especially if you are having financial issues.

Bruno Is Back .... ha ha ha
Are we going to get the FULL set of videos uploaded? These earlier ones from the beginning of the mental breakdown, right the way through to when the videos involved him dressing as a woman, using sex toys and being somebody's b1tch?

Bruno dear, you really must do something about that wallpaper:eek:
  • Just to add my tuppence-worth - I wouldn't deal with these people or the estate agent. I would walk away from the deal. First-time buyers - or anyone with no chain - are in such a strong position. It's the one opportunity to use it.

Even if their curtains did cost £1000 (as mine did, interlined and good material, and were included in the sale), you can a) use their ideas to get similar, b) they are second-hand curtains, so why pay the full-price for them.

Agree with all the other advice here. But I wouldn't like to continue in this relationship (ie with EA and vendors). As someone said, what else have they hidden. They have broken trust and proved to be immoral.

    Good luck -
    Jen

I know of one person who missed the repossession hearing on his home as he was on holiday. He couldn't understand why the locks had been changed when he returned.
