oh I do it was fairly plain but it had two rows of k yrn k2tog the return row was knit all st. then st 2 rows and repeat the first 2. it had garter st welts.
Not sure if the one that was my favourite was in the same pattern. It was a st yoke had a twisted stitch pattern for the rest.

DD was prem and I adapted it for a size smaller because everything I had knitted utterly drowned her. I think she may still have that one because she took it for one of her dolls. Both my two older kids, well they are pushing 50, still have most of their toys.  As the 3rd came along  21 years later car boot sales had been invented and he sold most of his at them. I still have some cars and his bus and tram collection which DGS plays with.

I was thinking more about who published it and approximately when.  There are sites like Trove where you can access old knitting patterns for free.  (Trove is a National LIbrary of Australia site.  It contains scans of entire newspapers and magazines as well as extracted articles, mainly knitting patterns and recipes.  Items are free to download and print.)

I know a lot of people have yarn stashes. I even have a modest one myself!  (Mostly 'leftovers'.)  I've managed to avoid just buying yarn because I like it - probably because if I don't have a project in mind I don't know how much I'll need.  But...

Does anyone else have a hoard stash of patterns?  Things you like, even if you'll never make them?

I do, obviously.  That's how DD came to find the 1980s ski jumper.  (Though tbf that was in a volume of crafting projects - one of those week-by-week things - so I hadn't saved that in particular.  And I'd actually done some of those! :# )
No, I managed to resist Mum's patterns, but I think one of my siblings has quite a few of them ... Mine mostly fit into a display book, one of those things with plastic pockets in. But there are a few more now, and it's not terribly well organised any more. I need to find the original sock pattern ...

I've downloaded quite a few, and they are saved on Google drive as well as on my local machine.

I have knitted most of the patterns I have, but I did acquire a couple more last week, when the LYS were selling of ends of line wool packs, with a pattern. I bought two packs, and I know I won't knit one of the patterns. I do have plans for the wool!

The mohair stash has not really reduced. If only mohair was easier to wash ...

For me it's more of a case if only mohair was wearable. I  have very sensitive skin.

Pipney I have no idea who published it. I probably bought it in the late 60s but not in 68 or 69 because I was in Singapore then. DD was born in 1972 but I had two miscarriages and a still birth before that. It was most likely Paten and Boldwin, or Sirdar. I did a lot of baby knitting in the 60s and 70s. It could be Robin but I don't think so.

I have always had a project in mind for every ball of yarn I have ever bought but it definitely got away from me in the 90s when there were lots of bargain yarn shops and I just bought far too much. I did buy yarns for knitting something for a particular person but not necessarily a pattern. I have designed garments for people too. My dad wanted either Fairisle or Nordic  jumper. We could not find a pattern he liked so I drew him a suggestion and worked it all out to fit him and then he chose the wool.

Hmmm... @nursemaggie, since you (possibly) have one original knitted garment left, it might be worth photographing it and emailing both Sirdar and Coats (who own P&B) and asking for their librarian to go through the archives.   The 1960's are recent enough to would fall within copywrite.

I got my DPN needle tubes yesterday from WoolStack.  Like previous sets, you get two sets that have slots for your knitting to slide through and a third set of tubes that don't.  I think I'll ask my DH to have a go on the third set and get him to carve out slots with a craft knife.  (He's an engineer by trade.  It's just the sort of thing he enjoys.)  I don't know why, but DPN tubes seem to vanish...

Will be some time as DD is six and a half hours away.
The tubes must be with all the odd socks and pens that disappear.

It all went a bit wrong last night: I don't know if I accidentally went back and forth on the last row instead of round, but I ended up with the working yarn at each end of one needle, whereas I think I need to be able to push the non-working end to the end of the  needle.

All I had time to do last night was slip one sleeve onto the other needle, and I'll try to work it out again tonight ...

    Looks impressive though!
Fingers crossed, Sue.  Hopefully, you'll only need to tink back a few stitches.

I seem to be back on track now. Going to knit more thoughtfully for a bit ...
Got in a pickle again, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now. I know which sleeve is 1 and which is 2, so I just check that 1 will end in a position where I can start 2 without any malarkey ...

In my late night youtubing, I found a woman who knits one sock inside the other, alternating stitches on separate balls. That just does my head in...

That’s a trick that is mentioned in Jane Austin.   It does my head in, too.  I’d be bound to screw it up.  (I think the Yarn Harlot tried it once and wrote a blog post about it.)
