UK banks should be fine, as mentioned before banks can sell back to cypriot banks so they should buy them in from customers.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700

Hi, I have just exchanged my Cypriot Pounds at my local Barclays Bank. They are able to do it in the branch until 1st May however I was told they could still do it after this date but would have to send them away for exchange. I had 26 and got £33.25 sterling in exchange.0

Thanks to this forum I sent my 24 Cyprus pounds to Bank of Cyprus UK, Chase Side (look at their website for full address). There were charges but I am £20 sterling better off than I was yesterday. Kind of them to do this as I did not go in person. There's only a few days left to do this though, I think.0

Just to bring this topic up again, I tried to change my Cyprus pounds at Barclays Bank in Holborn, London and she said sorry we don't do it anymore. I queried this strongly after remembering what I had read here about banks still buying them in, but she showed me her monitor screen which said it was cancelled in March. Can anyone help or do I have to go back to Cyprus?0

By way of an update: I rang the UK Bank of Cyprus today and they advised that you can no longer exchange Cypriot pounds in the UK (nor indeed in ordinary banks in Cyprus). The only place that you can exchange Cypriot pounds is the Cyprus central bank.0

By way of an update, the previous post is wrong. Although banks don't exchange them, there are companies that do exchange old notes, including Cypriot pounds. E.g.

Also, they are sold on ebay as collectables.0
