Where in UK can I change Cyprus ££?

Options
Just been to M&S bureau de change with 20 cyprus £, remnants of a night out with the Red Arrows last year, but that's another story! Anyway I was told Cyprus changed over to the Euro on Jan 1st this year so they can't take my pounds. Does anyone know if any banks in the UK are still exchanging these, as I'm not planning on going back any time soon. I'm with an online bank so can't 'pop into my branch'.

Thanks

If you are in or near London, Brum or Manchester, try going into a Bank of Cyprus branch

  • TTT-moneycorp and Travelex in Gatwick and Stansted airports will buy them.

The Post Office stopped changing them at the end of January, unfortunately.

Could be worth trying all the banks in your High Street to see if anyone will take them.

Or save them for another trip - they will be changeable in Cyprus for a few years yet. (2017 in fact - although only for 6 months without going to their central bank)

Send em to me and I'll give you a cheque for £20 sterling.

You can still change them in banks in Cyprus for the first 6 months of this year.

My contact details are on my web site in my profile
  • Nice exchange rate you're offering (not!).

Well, currently their best offer is nothing, so .......... it's considerably better than that!
  • I changed 20 CYP and they were brought at 0.8843, then minus the £3 comm so I got less than £20 stg back.
    Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700

    June 2010 - £17984.21
  • Dammit, i've got 45 cyprus pounds left over from holiday.. didn't know they were going euro

It would help OP (and others) if you said WHERE you did this as most places in the UK no longer appear to change them
  • I knew I had 30 Cypriot Pounds sitting in a drawer with alsorts of other currency from assorted trips over the years, which I have been meaning to do something about for months, knowing full well these were no longer valid currency.

So this afternoon I went to the foreign currency desk in my high street Barclays branch and bosh, job done. 30 CYP = £35.75 GBP.

There's your answer then. Better than trying to hunt down a branch of the Bank of Cyprus!!
