Yes but I think it's fairly unequivocal that if the Govt hadn't stepped in with the guarantee that wouldn't have continued. I think NRK shares would have been worth zero if the Govt hadn't stepped in at all.

If this is true then Taxpayers are sitting on a Pup. disco.gif

Possibly, but maybe thats the price of avoiding financial meltdown and anarchy

In the scheme of things maybe that was a price worth paying.

• Question for the Shareholders....

So, how much do you reckon you'll receive for your shares?

I'm hoping it's not going to be less than 25p. seeing as I paid 240p per share 6 months ago.

I only asked the above question to see what fellow shareholders believe they'll receive, please let's not start a slanging match between users, telling us we shouldn't receive anything!

Airplanepics, I don't own the shares but didn't one of the potential buyers say they would pay around 25p a share with the government guarantee in place? That implies that the free market value without the guarantee will be far lower than 25p.

:rotfl: NR was owned by its shareholders, The Government have stolen it from us. Shareholders were prepared to inject fresh capital into NR, they werent given the opportunity to do so.

Before people say about it being insolvent or this or that, Insolvent/ Bankrupt Companies dont pay people 90000 a month, with around 70000 a month being paid to someone else on top of all the other salaries.fact.gif

Face it the government made a mistake by panicking and bailing out a failed business which they never should have done. It should have been allowed to go bust and the vultures pick up the bits of the business with a value out of administration. Shareholder value would have been 0 like it has been with any company I have owned shares in that has gone bust.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Governments mistake was not giving Lloyds TSB a "depositors guarantee", when Lloyds TSB was willing to buy NR, before the deposit run on NR. ;)

I am not a shareholder but my advice for you would be to write off this entirely and forget about it as there is nothing you can do about it now.

Then you can only have upside as any payout will be a bonus.

I have had shares that were delisted/suspended since sometime last century (Ionica) and I am getting a few quid back next month!

However since you ask I'd say 1p or maybe 0.1p not too sure
If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?
