I've had an Easi-yo for about 6 weeks now (birthday pressie) and I'm really liking it, so far no problems.
The only place I've found to buy the mix sachets in Milton Keynes is Holland and Barrett and they were quite expensive (I got a natural mix and a Greek style honey one).
The natural mix definitely had a strong 'twang' but was lovely mixed with a bit of honey on my breakfast.
Anyway, having read some of the 'do it yourself' tips I had a go - with great success! with about 200ml of the yoghurt left I added 2 tbsp of milk powder and filled up to the top with UHT semi skimmed milk - after overnight in the container it was perfect yoghurt again! I did this once more which was not as thick or creamy but still tasty and edible.
I made the greek and honey mix which was super thick and delicious! and again saved just under the 200ml mark, added UHT milk and some milk powder and will leave it overnight tonight - hopefully all is well and I'll have delicious yoghurt again in the morning!
Although I'm probably not saving that much money over all (a couple of quid a month - but it all counts!) the yoghurt is definitely very tasty and I'm enjoying the process! I think I'll have a go using a normal pro-biotic yoghurt next as reading this thread it seems to work just as well as the mix sachets.0 -

I have made my own recipe yog for a good while now with 99% success. Fill container to 400 ml with full fat UHT. Stir in a good tbsp of live yogurt & 4 tbsp milk powder. Mix well, add more milk to just over 800 mls. Put into easiyo flask (pre filled with boiling water). Put on flask lid & leave 8-12 hrs. I like thick yog so this is perfectDebt-Free as of 12th September 2017

A lot of people are using milk powder to thicken up their yoghurt and it seems to me that any regular yoghurt maker would get through a good deal of it over the course of a few months. Does anybody know where you can buy it in bulk, or buy Catering size packs of it?0

Hubby has made two packs of easiyo (actual easiyo) this week and they have both come out runny. He has never had problems before. Is it the weather (our house isn't particularly hot) or could it be something else? Any ideas?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Not had a problem and its usually an issue of too cold so I'd look at whether you're using water straight from the tap rather than room temperature and I always leave them for at least 12 hours and occasionally 15-18h.0

Thanks. I'll ask him about the water that sounds the most likely he may even have used chilled from the fridge dispenser.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
I gave up using easiyo mixes early on. It was getting too expensive especially after some rather gloopy & yucky failures. As stated in my previous post 'own recipe' yog is a better bet, and you can add whatever flavouring you want. I make plain yog & add cherry syrup or jam & nutella for a sinful 'Black Forest' yog. Yum!Debt-Free as of 12th September 2017

Hi,
I've been thinking of making yoghurt for a while, and ended up buying a yoghurt-maker yesterday.
A 'numpty' moment by the way,as I could have bought it for 'free' using my Co-op loyalty points;the sales assistant even suggested this to me,but I declined. In my defence I am quite new to OS ideas!
It's a Tefal make with 8 small glass pots for the yoghurt each holding 145g.I followed the instructions using full fat UHT milk and a pot of Lactobacillus yoghurt and have just eaten the most delicious plain yoghurt ever.
Just wanted to share!:):)0 -
Well done! Its surprising how much nicer homemade is!0
