Daisy - I think the inner container in which you make the yogurt is dishwasher proof although I always wash mine by hand in really hot soapy water. If you make a lot of yoghurt the spare containers are definitely worth buying, otherwise you are continually having to move your existing yoghurt into other lidded containers.0

As soon as my yoghurt is ready, I take out approx 200ml, put it into a plastic tub and freeze it. This is my starter for the next batch. Get it out of the freezer the day before and let it defrost in the fridge (If you forget the just stand it in a dish of hot water until it has de-frosted).
I have not bought a second packet of yoghurt mix in 18 months.0 -
easiyo inner jar is dishwasher-proof: I do mine in dw if we don't have water that's really hot to wash it up in (I like to get it really scalded) but beware of buying the 'extra' inner jars they sell because the big one has a top with a little flappy bit in the middle, which you can open (can't think why they do this). The original jars don't have the little flap and I find it a darn nuisance as it tends to leak a bit when you're giving it a good old shake, which the original jar doesn't, IYSWIM. I was tempted to buy a second whole kit at the reduced price just to get a second jar with a 'proper' lid, but didn't as it seemed wasteful.0

Hi, just popping back to say thanks for the tip about the easiyo maker!
I made some yog last night and it was SO easy!
I just used UHT at room temperature, added some of my own HM yog (also at room temp) a few shakes of dried milk, gave it a good shake in the Easiyo plastic container, and then left it in the yog maker overnight.
Result lovely thick yog with none of the messing about! Brilliant! :beer:I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

It's for pouring the drinking yoghurt. Is there no choice with the jars on their own?

Does anybody know why occasionally you get a batch of yoghurt that doesn't set and ends up very liquid? I recently made a batch with a live culture given to me by a friend from a batch of yoghurt she had just made. (She makes it twice a week so isn't an amateur!). I mixed it as usual with UHT milk at room temperature and it ended up very liquid and runny. Even chilling hasn't firmed it up at all. Any ideas please?0

This thread is full of runny yoghurt probs, have a search. I would tell you the solutions if I could remember. This case sounds like a "drink it from a glass" one

I was told never to use anything metal with yog, even a spoon, as it makes it go runny.
Also I have always added a shake of dried milk powder which seems to help it set thicker.
But occasionally I end up with thin yogurt which I turn into ayran (turkish yog drink) by blitzing it with mineral water and ice with a blender stick, and keeping it in a jug in the fridge. Strictly you are supposed to add salt, but I don't like salt or sugar, so I leave it 'au natural'I'm a retired employment solicitor.
