Well I was toooo jealous of you all with your Easiyo's and I felt left out so i've been and bought one! Only £7.50 at Julian Graves.

I bought a couple of sachets and asked the women about using a tsp of the sachet powder with milk as and when I wanted yoghurt and she nearly fainted! She said I should never use milk, only water. And I must never use a small amount of the sachet as its all premeasured.

She obviously doesnt read MSE then eh!?

thanks for all this. i'm going to try an easiyo maker i think...think i may've missed the sale at Julian graves though. bummer

can someone confirm to me that its not too thin if you make it with skimmed milk?
i usually buy shape or similar very low fat yoghurt but they're not live and of course Rachel's dairy and Yeo valley, though lovely, are too pricey!

Right i've been set a challenge by the children. If I make some yoghurts like the crunch corner things from Muller (it has to be the ones with chocolate digestives, teeny sugar balls etc) Then they will try it and give me a score!

So im off to the supermarket shortly and will buy a live yoghurt and some uht milk. I'll get some smarties or something and smash them up a bit for the little triangle side, but what do you suggest to make the yoghurt part taste the same.. maybe just a bit of icing sugar?

They wont eat it unless its sweet!

I've not used my easiyo maker yet so im a bit nervous of this my first attempt:eek:

Oh I shall be doing it the same as easiyo suggests even though I wont be using their sachets, i'll use room temp milk and then boiled water in the flask bit. I'll only leave it for about six hours as I read that this makes for a sweeter yoghurt.

I have the electric yoghurt maker from Lakeland and it's brilliant.
I use 1 litre of organic UHT milk plus a few spoonfuls of the old yoghurt (or some from a fresh tub of Yeo Valley if I haven't made any for a while).
My husband loves the home made yoghurt mixed with maple syrup and chopped brazil nuts!

I also make an occasional batch with organic soya milk, which makes a sweet, vanilla tasting yoghurt. :)

i bought mine this aft and got a multi pack of the sachets as had some spare money in the xmas money i'd allotted for it. i won;t use them often though- just if i want a different yoghurt for a change! i bought a big tub of yeo valley anyway this aft as i wasn;t sure i'd be able to park at lakeland so guess i'll ahve to eat that up first before trying my own. am quite excited. OH thinks i'm sad, but hey....

what do you need to make your own? I have seen these easiyo on ebay but what else do you need? Does it work out cheaper to make your own than to buy it?

i'd like to report a success on the first using of my easiyo maker. i didn't use a sachet, just a litre of UHT skimmed milk, a tablespoon of skimmed milk powder and a couple of dollops of live yoghurt from a shop-bought tub. i'm very impressed with how easy it is, though once i'd mixed in the juice (whey?) from the top it was a little thinner than i'd ideally like, but this may be as it hadn't been in the fridge, was just straight out of the easiyo.

i made a lovely smoothie for breakfast with it....think i could get used to this!!

Sorry for all the questions but what are the sachets and where do you buy them from? Do you also add milk, water and yoghurt? I like the idea of this but after reading throught the thread im not entirely sure exactally what you need to make it, if that makes sense :)

You need a sachet and water. So a litre of yogurt costs the price of the sachet - about £1.30 - £1.50.

That seems quite expensive to me. I make a litre of yogurt in an electric yogurt maker. I put in 2 tbsp of starter yogurt (10p approx) a litre of UHT milk (53p) and about 4 tbsp of dried skimmed milk (19p approx), so 82p for a litre. Subsequent batches cost 72p as I use yogurt from the previous batch as a starter. I suppose I should factor in the cost of the electricity too, but I've no idea what that would be:)

If you are ever in a Lakeland Shop, check out the bargain section, quite often they will have the yoghurt sachets which are either individual because the packing split or close to their sell by date, which ever reason, there is usually a good reduction in price.
