  • I'm pretty certain that Egg won't allow balance transfers between their own cards so you'd have to transfer the balance to a non-Egg card first.
  • Sounds good to me - just make sure your 'other' card doesn't have a high interest rate!
  • Texaco are offering a pretty good deal, lifetime on BT's at 3.9 % with no fees and the option of earning cashback when you spend.
    check it out http://www.texacocard.co.uk/
    Waddle you do eh?

;D just to let you know i've got a marks and spencer more card. i payed off the 5k bt 2 days before it end. i asked them to close the account, i was asked why (as if they really care) i told them that i was only using the card for bt's. too my amazement they said that once the payment has gone though on your statement just ring up and we would give you another six months. COOL ;D ;D

i don't think that i'm the only one, nut it's worth asking before appliing for other cards.

anyway happy new year all and may it be Prosperous one ;)

  • Don't forget egg are only saying the anniversary deal will run at least until 2006 - no guarantee thereafter.
That's what they're saying for existing cardholders. New cardholders get the same guarantee until 2007!!

I payed (sic) my Amex off after 6 months at 0% and rang up to cancel only to find that they offered me a further 6 months at 0%.

Amex: "Another 6 months at 0% Mr Love Child?"
MLC: "Aye, go on then ;D"

Literally just the other day, RealAle.

They asked me why I wanted to cancel and I told them that I wanted to be able to apply for other 0% cards. They asked me if I had a balance that I wanted to transfer and immediately offered me 6 months at 0%..!!

    Good luck.

Received 2 today the standard 5 months 0% from marbles which will defo go in the bin as it does not fit with my needs at the moment (IE beyond April).

The other is Barclays who are offering 0% to Jan 2006 it does however have a catch (doesn't it always with BC?!)

It has a 2% transaction fee on BT's (so its not 0% on BT's its 2% if its a whole 12 months 2.2% (if my calculations are correct) if its 11 months etc.

There is however a £50 max fee which if they offer a big enough limit could cut the 12 months fee to 1% (1.2 on 11 months etc.)

considering this but its only worthwhile if I get a limit above £5000 so I can BT the maximum allowed.
anyone got any experience of this offer? its on a BC platinum card.
just opened MBNA Arsenal card offer and spotted (in tiny print terms & conditions - thank god for my new reading glasses) the 2% max £35 BT charge - it seems more & more cards are charging thru the back door this way - so read the small print before you sign
  • Can someone clarify for me about 0% deals. I currently have a CONRAN card - as recommended by moneysavingexpert - this is a card run through MBNA - Can I apply for another card - eg Abbey/Virgin for a 0% balance transfer deal for 9 months and then transfer the balance? The problem I am assuming is that Virgin & Abbey are also run through MBNA - does this cause a problem?
