I posted a link to an Ebay seller selling .com stuff. I won't be apologising however, if anything it gave the seller more coverage and quite possibly more customers as the people reading this thread are the people who wanted to purchase that stock! As stated anyone can search on Ebay so what difference does it make and how is it 'morally wrong'?
I think 'naming & shaming' is a bit of an exaggeration as we don't know who that seller is, all you have is an Ebay ID.
Yes I am jealous that I didn't manage to get one or two of the various items they're selling and I find it frustrating the way the Boots website works (i.e. items disappearing from the basket, orders cancelled etc).
As others have said it's up to the individual what they do with their items once they're paid for and some choose to Ebay them to make a profit, I would have even been tempted to do it myself until I read this thread. As mentioned in the previous thread I chose not to do this after reading of the disappointment of other MSEr's (without whom I wouldn't even know about the sale or what time it updated etc) when they can't get the item they've been waiting for. I thought that the point of this thread was to help each other out to save some money rather then making profit out of each other?
However this is just my opinion and way of thinking to which we are all entitled.
My reason for posting the link was simply to point it out as a reason why the stock is gone within 5 mins of the morning updates not to 'knock' or 'criticize' the sellers as such, simply to highlight it. It does frustrate me that someone got there first (as I said earlier I am a bit jealous) but I'm more frustrated at Boots then the seller as I do think that the items should be limited to each customer and they do already do this with certain items in the sale so why not all?
I understand people's frustrations with Ebayers buying lots of the sale goods and selling them at a profit but IMHO good luck to them (by the way it's not me:rolleyes:). A few years ago there was a huge Argos thread on here and people were getting masses of stuff greatly reduced. I myself got over £11,000 worth of goods for less than £3,000. What did I do with it....presents for family and friends (and me:o), purchases for local schools I worked with who I knew needed camcorders etc. (of course they reimbursed me). Some passed on to other MSErs at cost (wasn't disallowed back then). I didn't make any profit.....
BUT I have a very close friend who was in desparate trouble with her finances. She borrowed £500 from her Dad to buy loads of stuff from Argos and sold it on Ebay. That initial £500 saved her family home. She wasn't quite at the repossession stage but not far from it. As her Dad said, if he lent her £500 towards the mortgage it wasn't going to stop the repossession so she might as well see what she could do with the Argos bargains. She bought, sold, paid some off the debt....bought, sold, paid some of the debt and kept going (obviously Argos eventually ran out of super bargains but she then moved on to find other things).
What I am trying to say is, none of us knows the situation any particular Ebayer is in and should therefore not judge. I don't even think Boots should limit the number of purchases per customer. I do think they should sort out their software so that once goods are in your basket they are there for the duration of your shop and throughout checkout. If your basket (or rather activity on the site) is idle for (say) more than ten minutes then it would be reasonable for it to be emptied and made available to other shoppers again.
Anyway.....each to their own opinion...but I pesonally applaud the people who have get up and go to make a go of trading on ebay. Me....I buy the stuff and hoard it for some unknown reason:rotfl:
Happy days everyone:j
PS: I'm not criticising anyone on here for voicing their opinion because each has a valid point of view (but it is their own....but it is just a valid as mine)....just thought I would post mine0 -
