Nobody forces you to borrow money but, to better yourself is to speculate to accumulate - business fold just as much as individuals is a fact of life the world over.
If you want out then get a tent and stay single and stop being so materialistic ;)
    No I don't agree it's putting a bigger divide between higher/lower classes.
Banks are backed by BoE/Government - they have thousands/millions of customers and shareholders ...
Your backed by your own investments of years of donkey work ...
That's business, economics and life for you ;)

Very funny - I like the bit of live in a tent and stay single if i don't want to mix in your sort of society, in case you have forgot it's me the Tax payer who has helped to bail out the investors in the Banking Industry (Northern Rock for example) through the Public Funds.

Perhaps the investors should take your advice when things go wrong, get a tent, that way the public funds could be spent on something worthwile

    Fedz,
Sorry, but dont agree completely. I dont mind companies making profit, but some is just obscene. I know it is vital that banks are not allowed to collapse but they should pay interest and pay it back.

And Banks pray on the weak and uneducated without mercy. I see it every day. I would have never thought what is going on would be for real. It annoys me and also makes me angry. The staff are trained to overcome any objections, they use NLP, they pretend to be your friend, they scare you into submission to buy protection........

Working there fas opened my eyes. I will get rid of my debt as quickly as possible and already stopped paying for my accounts. I will move about and pick the best account I can find. I will no longer pay for something I dont need. The benefits are not worth it as most do not use it anyway.

I just wished people would wake up and see that they are being taken for a ride.

    No vote from me.

I can appreciate that lenders have a responsbility to pay, but what about banks having a responsible lending policy? the last few years have seen banks lend lend lend, and now, many have written billions of pounds off as "bad debt" because of previous policies.

Other people above have metioned the NR bail out by BoE, to those that argue over the bail out - remember you have given NR roughly £416 (based on the entire population of the UK) because someone (in my opinion) was incompetant (sp.?) at their job(s).

That's what the real gripe was - posting the poll had ulterior motives then? ;)

You are by enlarge what class you want to put yourself in ...

You don't have to pay tax if you don't want to - earn under about £90 per week and get housing benefit, council tax benefit, open a building society account and an ISA ;)

Do you really think the government would have spent the billions wisely had it not lent it to NR - open your eyes :)

No disrespect - I'm using your publically available signature as an example.

In your signature it says you have over £25k in debt to various credit cards ...etc. - was you forced to borrow that money? Proberbly no :)

You say in your post about incompetence now what about the £25k you borrowed in total, what's that called :)

not sure I understand your post Fedz

    I have no ulterior motive.

I could earn less than £90 a week, and claim everything under the sun (and actually, am medically entitled to do so) but prefer to work and earn my money.

As for the Government being wise with money, can I point you in the direction of a giant, upside down pudding bowl, an over sized ferris wheel, a structurally unsound glass bridge and a large football ground few people will see. However, you dont seem to state whether you think lending NR that level of money was wise.

You state in a previous post there the class divide isnt getting bigger. Its a well documented fact that under the current Government that the lower paid pay a larger proportion of tax in relation to salary than the higher paid.

True, but in order to make any assumptions over that, you would have to know my history. I admit, i have got myself into bother, and i will get myself out, but do you think it is wise to give some a 60% rise in their credit limit? True i didnt have to spend it, but I dont see that as a valid lending arguement. Would take a child to a sweet shop, buy them a big bag of sweets, then tell them NOT to eat them? Might seem a rather strange analogy, but it works for me.
