Its worth a try, anyway, but if everyone did it someone at either watchdog, Martin Lewis or James murdochs office might get so sick of us that they'd take notice!!!0

Yes I'm new here and fuming at SKY.
I can see looking back thru pages of your problems that I have a new variant on the theme. I purchased my PAY ONCE WATCH FOREVER package from Dixons a few days before Christmas, phoned the number in the box and a few days after Christmas all installed and working. Somewhere along the line I gave them my bank details to cover any films I might watch and pay for the 4 free mixes when the four month trial expired.
lo and behold what do I get but a bill for £9.50!
apparently I have been put on a special offer for 12 months with 50% discount. What! I have phoned and emailled several time and it seems that nobody at SKY knows about these "no contract" offers. I eventually spoke to a man in scotland who "said I'll sort it out and refund what you paid". That was last month. End of the month arrives with another payment going out.
Email SKY again and had the following reply
After looking through your account we have no records of you being made
an offer of 4 months free viewing on the 4 Mix package, therefore, you
would need to arrange for Dixons to contact us direct, with the
details so your account can be amended.
Am I stupid? the box came with SKY stamped allover it saying 4 months free viewing.
What do I do now? cancel the Dierct Debit, and claim my money back thru the bank, cancel my 4 mix package and email everybody at SKY.
I know that SKY cannot stop me receiving the freesat channels but can they stop me receiving channel four and five if I have a card in the skybox?
Sorry to have ramble on so much but I am fuming.
Another conned sky customer

All the above!
It makes my blood boil that Moneysavingexpert.com is still promoting these shysters to the unsuspecting surfer.
The product is good but their organisation and Customer Service is crap!0 -
I did say to the Supervisor that there were hundreds of disgruntled customers like myself writing on forums like this one and that the proverbial would inevitably hit the fan pretty soon, dragging Sky's caring customer service down with it.
I must say I did LOL when I read this - Sky's customer service is already way down at the very bottom of the deep dark pit of god-awful customer service. They also just don't care - they've been exactly the same for years, I have had the misfortune to be on the receiving end of their sharp practice several times over the years since the analogue days.
They have really cocked up on this one though- sounds like the end result for the customers of this product is the exact opposite of the name - Sky are not usually so blatant - this could easily be labelled a proper con job.0 -
We bought the POWF package in the summer and thought we had it sussed by calling Sky who confirmed the cancellation (see post #5 here). The following letter has been received from the now infamous Denise Allan, together with my reply.
7 March 2008
Denise Allan
Head of Operational Finance
Sky Subscribers Services Ltd

Dear Sirs
Re account no 621XXXXX
I refer to your letter of 2 March, received today, to which I shall respond in detail (text in italics represents your letter).
We are writing to tell you that we have not received your recent monthly payments for your Sky digital services despite several reminders.
We purchased a non-contract Pay Once Watch Forever subscription in July 2007. We do not make monthly payments. We have not received several reminders as then we would have written earlier.
Your Sky digital subscription has a minimum term of 12 months. If you fail to pay us your monthly subscription for the full twelve months, you will be in breach of the terms of your Sky digital contract and we will be entitled to charge you £76.69. This charge represents the number of subscription payments which are due for the remainder of your 12 month minimum term and is based upon the price of the cheapest package currently available from Sky
We paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. We do not have a minimum term. We do not have a contract. We do not owe you a penny and you are not entitled to charge us anything.
Details of this charge are set out in your contract booklet under the Important Terms and at clause 11(d) of your Sky digital subscription contract. We also notified you of this charge at the time you ordered Sky
We paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. There are no charges applicable.
You must call us immediately to rejoin Sky and avoid paying this extra charge
What – at your 0870 rates – I don’t think so.
If you do this quickly, we will not make the above charge, but you will still have to pay us for any outstanding amount on your account and you will need to continue to make your monthly payments for your Sky digital service for the remainder of your 12 month term.
We paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. There is no 12 month term and no outstanding amount.
Rejoining Sky is quick and simple to do. Call us on 08702 430 835 and we’ll arrange for your Sky digital service to be restored as soon as we’ve received your payment for the out-standing amounts due in your account
We paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. There are no outstanding amounts.
Paying us is easy. You can pay for the out-standing amount on your account using your debit or credit card and set up a new Direct Debit instruction for your monthly payment by calling the same number above. We can also help you if you’d like to change your current package or your payment date. Lines are open from 7am to 11pm
We paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. There are no outstanding amounts.
Unfortunately, if we don’t hear from you within the next 14 days the charges set out above will be charged to your Sky digital account
We are responding within 14 days - we paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. There are no charges. There is no Sky digital account.
That’s something we would definitely rather avoid, so please get in touch with us soon.
We are doing so, to remind you that we paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription
If you’ve settled your account or rejoined Sky in the last few days, we apologise for writing to you and you should ignore this letter.
Having done neither as we paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription, your apologies are nevertheless accepted.
However, we now require a written confirmation that you will cease harassing us for charges which are not outstanding because – we paid a Pay Once Watch Forever subscription. This letter has been copied to Watchdog and the OFT and will be posted on moneysavingexpert.com forum, along with many others who are being erroneously pursued by Sky. Take notice that any further communication from yourselves, other than the confirmation requested here, will be returned to yourselves without response from us.
Yours faithfully

Well good luck! So far we have had two letters from Denise Allen, both of which have been responded to in a similar way to yourself.
Neither of our responses has brought a reply from Ms Allen, however both have got a response from Mark Anderson. The latest response is replicated below:
"Thank you for contacting Sky.
As the Sky digital subscription contract was completed in your name and you are the account holder, the payment of any outstanding balance remains your responsibility. Please send your payment of £**.** DR to settle the remaining balance as soon as possible.
If you need any further help, please contact us on the telephone number shown, giving you account number."
We have found an email address which may help matters, to which a message for the eyes of Mr Anderson has been sent, as for ringing them-no way.
Will update as further news received.0 -
Around 5 hours after sending an email to the following address we were contacted by phone; the agent has since sent us an email confirming that the previously demanded charges have been cleared from the account they have in our name!!!!!!!!!
Her message went on to say sorry, and confirm a small amount of compensation (which we had agreed on the phone) would be sent by cheque as agreed!!!!!!!!!
A fuller explanation will be posted once a cheque has been received; in the meantime use the following email:-
AllCustomerCareEscalation@BSkyB.com
and copy to:_
james.murdoch@BSkyB.com
You should note that the capitalisation in the address is correct.
Please also post the results on this thread, so that other can get the result they deserve, and good luck.

Following my post yesterday, we have today received another letter from Sky - obviously the left hand and the right hand are not communicating. Apparently, my viewing is soon to come to an end (free mixes were actually switched off last month
) and all I need to do is call (an 0870 number, of course) to let them know that I'd like to continue with Sky !! Methinks not.
Harz, thanks for posting the email address; as well as sending my previous letter by post, I've also sent it to this email. I've also notified Watchdog, OFT, Dixons and DigitalTV.co.uk.
Will post further developments as and when0 -
Thanks harz99 - i sent two letters last week but so far have not received a reply but since reading your post i have now emailed my letter - will post here if i receive a reply, having said that i have stopped holding my breath:rolleyes: it wasn't good for my health;)The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o
