The think is a BR is probably a good bet as a tenant because they have no debts to service and they have a SOA to follow and know a lot more where their money is going, more than most people.

    V well said TF :T

We are moving on Friday, have just seen the tenancy agreement and there is no BR clause in there.

I'm sure if the rents paid on time and you are not in arrears you will be fine. I haven't heard of anyone evicted for being BR

But after the BR period most will get debts and go off the SOA its human nature.

It would be an interesting survey..How many ex-brs have taken out credit again.

I, for one, hope never to have any form of credit again, and a lot of people come on here saying the same thing, but, as you say, human nature. I also tend to have a very short memory:o , and in years to come may forget the hell this has all been, though i truly hope i won't.

A little like getting very drunk then saying never again:confused: then a few weeks later getting very drunk.......

Well, if going BR once doesn't teach you to manage any future debts or your budget then there's not a lot of hope for you.

That sounds harsh for me, but it's taught me a big lesson. In fact many big lessons.:o In many ways I'm glad that the BR on my CRF makes it very very difficult to obtain credit now, since that will give me a few extra years to adjust permanently.

LOL Better, i was thinking along the same lines, once i'm clean i'll stay clean, and even now when those dodgy adverts come on tv offering the world for a few pounds a month (wink wink)....i make a V sign at the tv lol
Wish i had done that earlier in my like, but hey nobody is perfect.
My opinion is that, this country is geared to look after the rich, and make them richer. And the working class are left to sink, and made poorer.
Thanks to sites like this we can all get together, have a pint, have a cry and stand strong and be equal....And most of all get our lives sorted.

  • I think I've learnt about bad credit, what I should avoid such as secured loans, managed loans, overdrafts, catalogues and how to get a better deal. Yet for all the heartache and stress I can't see me ever giving up my credit card. Sad I know.

That I can understand. It's a very useful thing if used to your advantage. Unfortunately the CC companies would rather you used it to their advantage, not yours.

My dear old father is one of the people the Credit Card Companies hate. Every month without fail the balance is paid off in full. Never paid them a penny in interest, but uses the cards to his best advantage. Obviously they makes something from the transaction fee's, but he doesn't see that directly.

Sorry to hijack but I have a quickie along the same lines.

If you declare yourself Bankrupt as a council tenant would I be evicted. Bit of a wide ranging question but was just wondering

Never heard of anyone being evicted yet, and an awful lot of people here are or have been council tenants.

Obviously if you've given the council other reasons to do it then they might, but certainly not just for going bankrupt. You are not doing anything wrong by going BR.
