Can the landlord make us homeless?

I would say it depends on whether you are paying them on time and could continue to do so.Barclaycard 3800

We have been privately renting this 3 bed house since April 06 we are not in any arrears, but we have on the odd occasion paid about a week late. It's so expensive for us right now you see at £550 per month. There is another we have looked at for £400 per month, needs a few repairs and updates doing but we don't mind that as the landlord said it will stay at £400. We'll be saving £150.00 per month on rent but then we will be able to up the housekeeping and food and actually put money down for holidays etc. At the moment I have had to skimp on the CCCS I&E and put a lot less down than we need.0

Yes BH why?0

I think BH is thinking..correct me if i'm wrong...its far easier to move to a cheaper rented accomodation while your not BR than while you are, some private landlords once they know about BR would ask for deposits references etcWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Thanks phil I was thinking that it will be easier, they could get the repairs done and save up BR fees paying less rent. Although I'm not sure how it would effect any repayments made after BR.Barclaycard 3800

Unless I've gone batty I seem to remember a thread started by a LL wanting to know if he was ok with making someone homeless for applying for Housing Benefit, so I'd say some of them would use any excuse to get rid of a potential problem tenant & a BR tenant could be a problem they might want to do without. They'd still have to give you notice though.Winnings

A lot of LL can get nervous, I got slated for saying I wouldn't rent to a BR but a lot of LL can't afford to lose money especialy the BTL lot with large mortgages. There are two sides to every debate and the LL certainly doesn't want to end up BR himself.Barclaycard 3800

just to reassure you a bit.... i used to own a few properties with my ex that we rented out and if you are a decent tenant that doesnt have arrears (and generally) pays on time, you should be fine.
An empty property costs a fortune, and evicting a tenant is a *really* time consuming and costly thing to do involving the courts etc. Not many landlords would goto that effort unless the tenant has been a nightmare for quite a while (and im sure your not!)
Seriously, dont panic.... xBSC: No: 1050
