    I have had 2 quotes for my home(plumb Hall):D
For upvc woodgrain £2300 and £2100 with new facia, soffit, gutters, dry verges etc.
I have just had delivery today of the materials £700, cost of scaffolding £500,total £1200,spending this weekend putting them up,and making a saving of £900.
Save even more if fitting white,as its half the price.

Now repeat after me- IT WILL NOT RAIN IN THE NORTHWEST:D

Now all again IT WILL NOT RAIN IN THE NORTHWEST,as i am putting a new roof on this weekend
  • We live in an end terraced house and need to have the concrete gutters replaced. We have just had fascia mania out who quoted us just over £6000 but after the usual jargon cut it to about £4000. We don't want it overclad we want the full monty ie old concrete taken away, eaves guards, bird protector strips etc, ventilation facility. We thought it would cost between £1500-£2000 are we being unrealistic before I phone someone else. Also can anyone recommend a reputable company in Derby.
  • stressedoutmum ,

    Have you considered gutter liners ? We`ve supplied dozens and everyone , without exception , has been delighted with end result whether it`s been for farm buildings , industrial units or domestic .Very economical solution - More info here ;

  • Hmmm I am now wondering if i have a good price or not: 125+VAT to replace 1 rotten fasica board at the end of a 1 storey extension & £80+VAT to repair lead flashing that has come away between the extension & the house.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

never get facias cladded over, i cant open my windows fully now.always remove old wood
You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on
  • I am literally gobsmacked by some of the prices i have seen quoted on this thread.I have recently been subbying to a uPVC company and they pay next to nowt for fascias and soffits.Let's face it,it's hardly rocket science to do.This whole industry is a moneymaking racket, which explains why there are so many firms doing it.I have my fascias and soffits professionally painted with dulux weathershield every few years and they look great.
  • Just look on this site and check the prices for Soffits and Facias - These guys who have quoted are having a laugh!!!!

Good evening, I am very new to this site, so please forgive me if I should make mistakes. But please let me know so I will not continue to do so.
I too would like to update my house with upvc fascias & soffits.
one problem i have is I do not know how to cover the corner boxes of the house.can somebody tell me please.
Also I am living in Ireland,So does anybody know where I can get the materials at a good price.I can find plenty of sites for Great Britain but alas none for Ireland.
  • What do you mean by corner boxes?

    hi payless,
i replaced all the fascias and soffits myself, its quite easy to do really just a bit tricky if you are working alone like i was (couldnt get the missus to climb the ladder )

I wish I could do that.

A quote from a co. called Alpine for woodgrain effect guttering etc was over £3K:eek:

I don't have ladders that tall, I don't know how I would go about doing this myself.

My guttering is hanging off the house and birds are living under the tiles where the guttering has come away

there must be someone somewhere who will do a fair days work for reasonable pay

Is there a manual that tells you how to do this?
