New plastic Fascia Boards and Guttering

Has anyone had any old wooden fascia boards replaced with new plastic ones?
I'm looking to replace about 150ft of fascia boards on a 1970s type bungalow in the Sheffield area. Any information on current prices would be great

i think hairy is getting ripped off by his supplier. i recently replaced all my fascias and soffits myself and didnt pay anywhere near those prices, for instance 5mtrs of fascia board 150mm x 9mm thick was about £12.00
the soffit was about the same. i actually got mine from a local company in birmingham try this link and i think you will find everything that you need at very good prices hope this helps.
by the way its very easy to do to, provided you are ok up a ladder
    regards

We have an Edwardian house and we were wondering about replacing the wooden barge boards with UPVC ones, it is a very plain house without fancy glass or plasterwork or anything and the rest of the house isn't painted e.g it is brick, so they would hopefully be maintenance free. I don't know how much it would cost to get them repainted rather than replaced, can anyone point out the pros and cons? No worries about what the nieghbours have done as our house is detached and unique in our road (no others remotely like it)

Alot of company's seem to cover over the old wood with new upvc only a few take off the old wood first.
If i was looking I'd be looking to have the old wood removed first!! Something to consider/ask about especially when comparing prices.

I agree, have the old ones removed

This had been done to a house across the road from me,they left the old ones up,now they have problems as the wood has rotted behind it .................another expensive ,long job:o

those prices are over the top for 9mm fascia, plus you should only use 9mm for over-cladding of existing facias.
best job is to rip off old timber and replace with new 19mm

I've just been quoted £1,800 to do front ,back and gable -end .........remove wooden fascias/soffits and replace with plastic

is that way over the top........................I can't do it myself
  • Difficult to say, ask for an itemised written quotation.

Then you will know how much the materials are and how much they charge for labour. Ask how long it will take to do. If they are on more than £120 a day don't bother with them. You can get much much cheaper.

Don't forget that you are looking at about £500 odd for the scaffolding as well!
