I had a similar problem with a graco travel system from toys r us, (part manufacture, part design fault in my opinion) they reluctantly sent it away twice to repair it, (unsucessfully) graco would not get involved, toys r us store directed me to head office, all the time they string it out as the longer you have it, and use it, the weaker the customers case to get a refund.
Do a search for toys r us (and TRU) on this site and you will come up with a few other case histories, not sucessful but will come up with directors name etc which may help.
Ive long since forgotten mine, its somewhere in the garage, I just replaced it and tried to forget about it in the end as they made it an impossible task.
If you are lucky you may get someone in trading standards to take it up for you. Or your credit card company may help. Document all contacts to prove your efforts to get a refund, even if you have had it 5 months, if it was faulty from day one and your first request for a refund was early on you may have some hope.
I will try and look back at the posts I looked at when I was trying, I will post the links here if I find them.
Good luck, and remember to enjoy your baby, try not to let it be on your mind too much....I infuriate my husband because I dont like to let go of things like this and it really gets to me, I used to moan and complain every time we had to push the damn thing round. (the travel system, not my little girl that is!!)0 -
Thanks hun!!!
Gosh, it sounds like I could of written that!!!
I think its more the point that they are both big companies, 1 refund or exchange is nothing to them... The fact that I've broken down in tears says that there is something wrong with it... Grr I know I shouldn't be upset but its so hard not to when it means I'm stuck in the house...0 -
What travel system is it ?
A bit crap from your point of view but to "answer" a few questions for you , 1 . Raincovers are rarely a good fit on any buggy . 2 . Raincovers always take up all the room in the basket underneath .
The above 2 has happened on nearly every buggy I have owned and I currently have 9 buggies and have owned over 35 in the last 3 years . I have a bit of a buggy fetish
What car seat is it you have as the head hugger should be able to be removed , it can on all the Britax car seats I know of and could on my Britax Rock - a - TotBaby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

bad combination though-returning a pram ( nearly always problematic) and returning Goods to Toys r Us-I think there are notes on the consumer direct site about returning prams and pushchairs0

here you go,
1)this thread although not about a pram, tells of bad customer service, and a few bits of info re directors name etc....

and another one..
2)my original thread when I was trying to get a refund, this also has some addresses in, and also another link to someone elses thread and their experience..

Re the headhugger-does it not have more than one height slot that you can move up to?
Or-have you tried pushing the buckles back through the BACK of the carseat ,through the slots on the plastic,(the ones that you can see if you look at the back of the carseat? (dont know this exact product but this is often the way to do it.)
I would think not being able to get the carseat off the buggy would be very frustrating, and your main complaint.,as this sounds like (maybe) a fault. If you took it into tr us and showed them, and they couldnt do it-your point would be proved.0 -
Go straight to the Trading Standards people - that'll make them sit up and act:money:0
