noooo 50 a week so 200 a month
I only got the car a few months ago it has a loan on it, so in order to downsize i would have to pay off loan in full, can't sell the car either tied into the loan, soooo im snookered for now. Its cheaper than the one i had before though and over less years.I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:0 -
200 a month for a lodger sounds better, definitely.

I think you need a chat to your boss. Ask for a meeting with him/her/them. I realise it might be difficult, but try to be totally frank about it:
"I've asked for a meeting to discuss my financial situation. I'm not earning enough to cover my outgoings, so I'm getting deeper in debt with every passing month. I need to earn more here, or take a second job. If I take a second job, I won't be available to do as much overtime here. I enjoy working here, but I need an extra £3,000 (or however much you think you might be able to push for) per year. Is the company in a position to be able to help me? I'm not asking for a rise for nothing: I would be happy to take on extra duties or greater responsibilities (if you can think of something extra that you could do, throw that in at this point) in return for an increase in salary."
You need to ask for a raise, but you also need to make it to sound like you'll do more for them. This approach worked for me in a previous job. If they value you, and think that you can't afford to stay with them, they might come up with something. The worst they can say is no, in which case you start looking for a second job.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
i have only been in the job a few months and i don't appear to be doing a good job, or so i have been told recently. So there is no way i will get an extra money out of them. Which is why im trying to find something else.I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:0

Shame.
You do need a bit of service in for that to work. Can they give you any more overtime? What do you do? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Are you putting pictures up with your ads for a lodger? that really helps and you get loads more people wanting to come have a look, also if you offer short term ie 3 to 6 months that would help as some people for wahtever reason can't commit to a full 6 months, just get a months rent as deposit and a month in advance before you hand over keys, o and get a woman if its your first lodger and you would feel more comfortable.
£200 a month from lodger (just grit your teeth!) and £200 a month from a part time job and you will be hugely better off

Take whatever you can for now and start looking for something better. It's better to have something than nothing at all.
