That seems to have sorted it, although I do not remember changing the zoom!!
You probably didn't - if Normal.dot (which is the base template that all of your "new" blank documents are based on) goes a bit screwy then Word will automatically delete that file and recreate it for you.
Unfortunately in the wisdom of Word - some settings are also saved in this file - your default document font, your % view and any custom toolbars can also be saved there.
So sometimes it looks like - ping and your settings change. But really it's Word trying to sort itself out in the background
