Ryanair Credit Card Charges

One other method is to use the Post Office "Travel Money Card" which is a Visa Electron . Just go into the Post Office, give them the amount of money you need to spend and you will get this card for a minimum £3 fee(1.5% or £20 max.). You have to wait 24 hours to activate it but then you can book your Ryanair flights as I have just done and save the card fee. On the "over-the-counter" card your name is not on it but at the Ryanair payment page just enter Post Office as name of card and the rest of the details as normal. I saved nearly £40.0

Try http://www.entropay.com/
You can sign up and instantly transfer money into the account and use it as an Electron card. 50p charge to transfer £10 (minimum amount) into the account but do be aware that Ryan Air will change the pounds to euros after your transaction is complete so make sure you have enough in your Entropay account to cover this. Like the PO account you put Entropay User as the account holder.0 -
If Ryanair sells in pounds, do they have any right to impose currency conversion costs on the customer?
This smells of "dynamic currency conversion" scam to me.0 -
I have absolutely no doubt that whatever Ryan Air do will be called a scam but when I can get a flight to Krakow for £5 using the cheapest, quickest method for me then thats what I will do

A few points:
I agree that Ryanair is sometimes much more expensive than BA or any of the other major airlines. This is normally when you need to travel last minute.
Not everyone has the choice to avoid Ryanair and use another airline instead. What if the other airlines don't have the routes you want? Not everyone can travel to London to fly.
A visa electron card is available to everyone. Instead of using your time to post a message here, why not apply for a visa electron card? Halifax easycash can be applied for online and there is no credit check.
Ryanair do actually make their fees plain. There is always a link that says "For a full list of Ryanair fees, please click here". There is nothing illegal about charging a fee for credit card transactions even if it is 100 times the cost to Ryanair. What may be illegal is the use of the word "free" in advertising when the final charge is not zero.0 -
I just booked 4 cheap flights with Ryanair. It only cost £20 for four of us to go to France return. Bargain! Part of their latest offer. HOWEVER it was £6 each for priority boarding (I was expecting that) but £10 EACH to pay by card even though there is no other way to pay (No Paypal option) Even if I selected Electron it was still going to be £40 to pay by card. I have never heard of anything so scandalous in my life. They were still very cheap flights - at half term too - so I did go ahead and book but I cannot think they should be allowed to charge this amount when there is no other option to pay.0

i've just checked the fees page which someone kindly posted above. the electron fee is currently being waived "for a limited period only". however, what made me laugh (or cry?) is that they now charge £5 for online check-in and £40 for desk!
having two small children and their accompanying clobber, it is often actually cheaper for us to fly with a major airline. i always cost compare in detail and if it's a matter of a few quid i'll take the 'free' food and drink option. sometimes due to route we just have to fly ryanair (edinburgh to stockholm in winter).
if i was still young, free and single i'd probably be able to nip off when the flights are at their cheapest but for a family of 4 it's now very often cheaper to take a major airline and reviewing their new charges, probably even more so now!
re visa electron, you don't even need the card, i just keep an online HBOS electron account (easycash) whack the cash across from my current account and pay from that.0 -
did you also know (i'm doing a dummy comparison check in) that if you have an infant, you can't check in online. swindling barstewards0

and after all that palaver, the session timed out and i'm back to square one. you see, it's these things that make me mad at this thieving !!!!! git and his crap airline. you've got to fill so much stuff in that adds charges that the sodding session times out. bah!0

they are a right old pain when it comes to extra fees, some are fair some are extortion but what can you expect when you fly with cargo firm, they dont want you to check your baggage as they have filled the hull with cargo they get paid for, making you take hand luggage reduces staff cost and increases cargo profit (double bonus). Its all designed to squeeze as much out of the plane as possible, quite clever really.0
