Ryanair Credit Card Charges

I've never tried in the post office, I meant on www.royalmail.com where you can buy postage online. I don't think post office branches accept credit cards anyhow.
They do - though not for all transactions. It has to be for a transaction with the Post Office - not one where they are acting as agent for someone else. For example you can pay for stamps, but not your council tax or rent.0 -
what gets my goat is that they charge a credit card fee per person per flight i.e for a return flight 2 people thay charge 4x£4 = £16. They are only making one card transaction which on a debit card is approx 50p max. there is no way of paying by any other means as no banks will now issue electron cards because they are being phased out ( I have tried every bank within the past week!)0

Use a different airline then.0 -

Booked yesterday, charge is now up to £9.50 per person! I think I tried all card options and it was the same charge each time.
Just remember to factor it into your costs when using comparison websites.0 -
Got to say that it is not clear what the charges are in advance. You don't know this until you're actually booking. It's like taking an item to the till at a supermarket and them adding various charges once you're there. Would you say that the pricing is transparent because they tell you once you're at the till?
In my experience, flying BA or other carriers isn't significantly more expensive if you book in advance and once you add all the extras. Plus, the whole experience is far superior, you get free food and drinks etc.
But as others have said, everyone's got the choice. Personally I'm happy paying the extra tenner a head for the better flying experience. Others would say who cares for such a short time period.
With regards to the original topic, I'd be happy to pay an extra charge with Ryanair, if the charge in some way reflected the cost to the airline. A fairer way would be to charge everyone a bit more and only charge the extras at their actual cost to the airline. In truth though, Ryanair just want a low headline cost so that they look like good value, simple as that.
And before people slate me, I'm not a complete Ryanair hater, I fly them occasionally when it is more convenient or significantly cheaper. Just telling it as I see it.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

I fly with Ryanair quite regularly, and while I begrudge the charges for all the 'extras' they are still often - but importantly not always - the cheapest.
There IS a way around the credit card charge though apparently if you purchase their gift vouchers online to cover the cost of your flight (I've not tried it for real yet, but have checked it out 'in theory'). You don't pay a credit card charge for the online purchase of the gift vouchers. You can redeem up to 4 vouchers when paying for your flights, though they don't give change. So as long as you purchase vouchers that cover the cost of your flight (there's likely to be a small amount of overspend), and redeem them on the flight payment page you'll save the credit card fee.
Hoe this helps someone.0 -

Now that is interesting. Good spot and good news if it actually works!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
The big problem with Ryanair is the fact they charge per person per sector for the card fee. In the 90's when it was agreed that retailers could charge a fee to cover their credit card charges to customers, some did but it was always the 1-2% or the transaction.
What Ryanair are doing is probably close to illegal as they are taking 1 transaction and splitting it into potentially 8 (family of 4 on return trip) and charging a fixed fee rather than a percentage 8 times.
This is highway robbery and immoral. I agree that extras should be paid for by those who use them (in fact I think airline passengers should be weighed).0
