3 pay monthly contract expired. Continued to use the phone regularly. Now service is occasionally cut off for a few hours up to a couple of days at a time. If I call them they say it's because I'm 'not using a 3 handset' or because I'm 'using a 2g handset'. Asked why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, they have no explanation. I continue to be billed and pay on time.

Well are you using an old 2G handset, or your existing old one?
It's obvious that they are periodically cutting off my phone because I'm not signing up to another year's contract with them. but does anyone have any experience of this or any solution to the completely erratic phone service?

Utter nonsense. You are a contract customer until either party ends the contract which could be months or years without signing up for another minimum contract period.

Ive had my 3 phone for over a year now. It was a one year contract I purchased.

I have contacted them 7 times to cancel it and each time they say they have, which then follows contact from them stating that I have not cancelled correctly.

They state that you have to give exactly 1 month cancelation on the dot. You cannot cancel even 1 day prior to this giving a months notice and you cannot cancel if you miss the 1 month cancelation day by one day as hundreds are doing as its easily done.

I had the same problems with BT (AKA IT)...

3 is refusing to cancel your contract by pretending you didnt call. They are not keeping records of cancellation.

When you call back they speak to you as if you are lying as they cannot find records of previous conversations which they say they should have.

They are keeping you on the phone for 30 mins when you ask to cancel before saying "please hold while I put you through to the cancellation department". They put you on hold and you are kept waiting for atleast 30 mins. After which time I have to hang up as it is costing me an absolute fortune as I now live in Canada.

Im sorry but this is absolutly rediculous.

I call on everyone to stay well clear of 3.

Their treatment of Customers is diabolical.

have just rang 3 customer servs to find out what date my contract runs out. they said that when i upgraded in sept last year i'd agreed to a 18month contract which is completely untrue as i was adamant that i only wanted a 12 month one. they have no written proof of this and say that the phone conversation is proof enough. am absolutely furious. they just spoke me as if i was lying. at no point did anyone say it was for 18 months. seems as though it's my word against theirs. has anyone else had this experience from these fraudsters?

  • They did this for 2 6 month contracts I took out for the kids. I called to cancel and they said they were 18 month contracts. I told them I had the original reciepts from them stating that the minimum term was 6 months.
They told me I had to fax them the receipt, after 38 minutes going round in circles I got the address off them for Customer services and sent two letters via recorded delivery to cancel the contracts.
They have received the letter because they have called about both contracts saying I have to speak to the cancellation department, to which I said no chance my letter is giving 30 days written notice and if you charge me 1 penny more then I will sue you.
I would not bother trying to call customer services just send a letter and then refuse to speak to them when they call.
