£6 Makers Mark Bourbon Whisky

What's this about?
A printing error in Waitrose' free Thirst magazine has Makers Mark Kentucky straight bourbon whisky priced at £6 rather than the £22 price on the shelf-edge label. Yet Waitrose is keen not to disappoint customers so some, but not all, stores are honouring the price. If you're not a bourbon drinkers, its not a bad 'house warming' type gift.
(Note from Martin: Though of course it's always possible if a raft of people go for it - it'll stop hence why it wasn't too prominent in the weekly email, if you got here well spotted!)
Sounds good, how do I get one?
If you're near a Waitrose, first pick up a copy of the January issue of Thirst magazine from the customer service desk counter or by the checkouts. The tasting notes on page six show "Maker's Mark bourbon, USA £6".
Grab the 70cl bottle from the alcohol section, where it's priced at £22, take it to the checkout and show the operator. He/she will probably call the manager over but as Waitrose is honouring the price for up to one bottle per customer you should be given it for £6.
What next?
Enjoy!
PS Please drink sensibly - if you have a drinking problem check out Alcoholics Anonymous

My local Waitrose was aware of this error a few weeks ago and when I asked for a copy of the magazine, they said there was an error in it and manually corrected it before giving it to me. ( I wanted the Magazine for a wine coupon). People may find that most stores have taken them off the shelves and if you ask for one they might point out the mistake and correct it before giving it to you.
Just thought I'd mention this in case anyone was planning to travel to take advantage of this.0 -
You can also pick up some chips off marqueemoon's shoulder for free as well, there seem to be plenty to go round...
I don't think I'd have the cajones to go for this one, but good luck anyone, Makers Mark is a pretty nice bourbon.0 -
Mrs VX Foxy just picked up two bottles from our local store

I can't find any stock in Waitrose at Bromley.
Is it hidden anywhere in particular or have the blighters withdrawn the stock to prevent MSE'ers from taking advantage, I wonder?0 -
Just grabbed a bottle in Surbiton branch. They seem to be aware but have not removed the magazines from circulation.0

I just went to the Rickmansworth branch, picked up the leaflet, showed the price to a lady at customer services, she pondered it for a while, spoke to the manager and said it was ok but only one bottle.
Woohoo!
Thanks!!0 -
