I was going to Waitrose anyway - my local one had about a dozen bottles on display, but alas, no Thirst magazine.

You didn't need it in our store?
Maybe if you had have just said you had seen it in th mag, they would have honoured it?

In fact it isn't rubbish. I do work for Waitrose and know for a fact that branches were asked to remove the thirst magazines from display some time ago. And the idea that publishers are the 'only' ones who lose out (due to a genuine mistake), is quite remarkable - what goes around comes around of course :j

Right, It's laughable that you are a member of a money saving site, but as soon as it's something "we" as a community can get from "your" Waitrose you are up in arms about it. Your comment of "What goes around comes around" is obviously aimed at everyone who was fortunate enough to get their hands on this product.
"Branches were asked to remove the magazines." So how come so many are still available?? Even without the magazine Waitrose were still honouring the "offer" in most stores - FACT ! Who else is going to lose out since Waitrose are claiming ALL lost revenue from the publisher - FACT !

I don't work for Waitrose, nor do I ever want to, but my FACTS come from a Senior Manager in Waitrose's head office in Bracknell. One of his comments to me was " We all make mistakes and have to live by them, but we're not losing anything by this and if we can get people in to the stores who don't usually shop at Waitrose, then you never know, they might even end up defecting from their regular supermarket and becoming core Waitrose customers."

Anyway, I'm off to crack open a bottle of that delicious Bourbon, Makers Mark ! Got it for £6 at Waitrose you know !!

Thanks MSE from everyone who got this for £6, cheers , glug, glug.

I agree CheekyMonkey; whilst I absolutely applaud Waitrose's ethics and setup, I would imagine that the store would not be worried by the amounts lost on this loophole (whether or not it is lost by Waitrose itself) since many new customers will have gone in and, I hope, bought loads of their other fantastic stuff whilst there. In the long term, extra 'converted' customers could make them a healthy profit, after all, most or all supermarket chains use 'loss leader' selling tactics!

By the way, no vested interest here, I've only just read this so am way too late to get a bottle, plus my nearest store is 40 mins drive away so would offset any moneysaving!

    Enjoy yours, cheers!
  • All sold out in the Worthing and Brighton branches, but plenty of copies of the magazine on display. My girlfriends dad managed to get a couple in the Hertford branch though, and gave us one for the tip-off. Cheers to whoever found this one, great buy
  • They re-stocked in our store today, but couldn't bring myself to get any more as we got 2 and I think thats enough!
However my brother wanted 1 and I was just wondering if anyone tried today to get one and was refused? Or is it still worth him having a go?
    Thanks in advance!!!
