Waitrose has withdrawn the Thirst Magazines from its shops, so this 'offer' is dead. Personally I think it's a shame that 'we' are so desperate to rip of this supermarket, which prides itself on treating its suppliers properly (unlike some of the major supermarkets) and whose employees are owners of the business. So when you're sipping on your cheap drink, you're not fraudulently taking from invisible shareholders, it's every £6 an hour shopfloor worker who loses out.

I am guessing you looked into getting this, to know that the magazine had been withdrawn! Or do you work for waitrose?
  • ler01kjh - Absolute rubbish !!

Waitrose have not withdrawn the magazine ! The magazine is for the month of January so today will be the last day of this "offer" as a new magazine will be put out tomorrow.

The only people who will be loosing out are the publishers of the "Thirst" magazine who have agreed to pay Waitrose for all of their losses due to this mis print.

Most Waitrose stores will honour this "offer" as long as they have stock. Some have taken the magazines off the shelf and the drink off the shelf, but that is the store managers choice. Most stores still have this offer.

Good Luck and enjoy your discounted Makers Mark, I know I will !!

Am gutted I couldn't find a copy of Thirst, I do love Makers Mark.

    Enjoy, Cheekymonkey! x
  • Just bought 2 bottles @ £6 from my local Waitrose in Chichester, no questions asked!
  • My Mum works for Waitrose and i can confirm what Cheeky Monkey wrote - Whilst the magazine was still valid (i.e. til the end of today), Waitrose are honouring the £6 price tag and the publisher are the ones taking the hit for the mix up.

However Waitrose don't usually hold a high stock of this particular brand so finding a bottle isn't particularly easy. When the offer started in my mums branch, they only had three bottles on the shelf and they all went pretty quick (and none of those were to staff members).

They did get a few more deliveries in and I now have a bottle sat in the cupboard waiting for a rainy day (that'll be tomorrow then!)
No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT3
  • My waitrose has just withdrawn the stock!
Claimed back bank charges - Jan 08 (Despite Court case!) :money:

Really want to win a car :)

In fact it isn't rubbish. I do work for Waitrose and know for a fact that branches were asked to remove the thirst magazines from display some time ago. And the idea that publishers are the 'only' ones who lose out (due to a genuine mistake), is quite remarkable - what goes around comes around of course :j
  • Hi , I just wasn't to thank the OP for this. I read this at 7:30pm and got my coat on and rushed out the door with out a word to the OH!!
I managed to get 2 bottles ( the last 2 ). As I was paying the SA said we have been told to put thses through at £6.00, so there was no argument at all. All the Thirst mag was still everywhere! I guess they wont honour this tomorrow as it's the 1st of Feb??

Thanks again Op the old man is very happy with me, and forgives me for flying out of the door with out even saying bye!

I was going to Waitrose anyway - my local one had about a dozen bottles on display, but alas, no Thirst magazine.
