I got £38 worth of shopping for under £2 cash.
Felt a bit cheeky but young girl on checkout seemed quite impressed.
Didn't use clubcard though - thought I read somewhere on here not too?
This is probably been asked before. Sorry.
But why didn't you use your clubcard? You could've earn 38 points for that.
Is there consequences for using too may coupons against your shopping?
Can they trace you or something and demand for the money/shopping back?
I never get to use more than 2 coupons when going through checkout. SA refuses them. Reasons: I didn't by the product, she can only take one, etc.
I always go through Self-service checkout. I can put as much coupon as I want. Sometimes it needs approval and one SA opened the till and cheked the coupon I put in, luckily it was Tesco's ones.
You're so lucky!0 -

The comments about "acting all flustered" and seeking out the (generally more naive) younger clerks at the till suggested to me that some folks maybe even themselves thought that something wasn't quite kosher here.

The trouble is that some till operators make you feel you are doing something wrong, and more often than not they are middle-aged women who feel it's their duty to protect Tesco's money. You would have thought it was their money!
Thing is, they are like that because they don't understand that their employer MAKES money from accepting non-store specific coupons, they think Tesco are accepting them as a favour, lol! I have tried explaining briefly what happens when Tesco redeem my coupons but some old harridans just won't have it and I have to ask for a Supervisor.
Luckily for me, all the Supervisors in my nearest Extra know the policy & know me by now too, and they say it's OK to take them all if different & in date. Cue a scowl from the till operator - one tutting old bag even went so far as to DELIBERATELY not scan my 2 largest coupons the other week (2 x £2). I noticed after paying that they weren't on the receipt! Stony-faced, I went back & got them back from her afterwards (how come she knew which ones she hadn't scanned without looking, and how come she didn't apologise for nicking my 'money' if it was just an oversight. I know it wasn't as the till didn't beep them, she just missed them out).*
So, the reason for choosing a nice young smiling person on the till is from grim experience of the alternative. I don't need someone to try to make my shopping experience bad just because I know the coupon policy. It's those who use unredeemable coupons who should be confronted, not someone who is playing the game exactly by the rules.

Anyways - I thought Mr T's will honour other stores vouchers?
I'm sure I've seen signs in there to that effect (although I also shop in Sainsburys too, so it might've been there)
Edited to add: I thought so Mr T's will accept Sainsburys & Safeway (guess they don't update their website that often! I also am sure they accept other coupons) both instore AND online (just give them to the driver & they'll refund your card). They say on their online grocery help that they only will accept coupons for money off the total transaction, but I don't know whether that has now been updated to include ALL coupons, including ones valid only for specific products.
They also say that they will only accept up to £15 worth of coupons for one delivery.
As per my post number 12 on the last page (quote):
'no-one should try using Somerfield, Asda or Sainsburys coupons from the back of their magazines, in Tesco. Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'
They are simply not redeemable in Tesco.
Nor are those that Sainsburys send you for money off toiletries/clothing/bakery etc. They will scan at Tesco and that's where the confusion lies, some till operators think if it scans it must be OK. But even an out of date coupon will scan, and they aren't OK either.
Only 'spend & save vouchers' from other Supermarkets are acceptable by Tesco, they take these and only these, as a loss-leader. You may have seen a banner mentioning Sainsburys spend & save vouchers? Spend & save vouchers are 'save £x when you spend £xx instore' (i.e. no product or range stated).
HTH, although I am an instore shopper so don't know about online.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I had £36 worth coupons, none duplicates except coke which I was buying.
I wasn't sure if I should use my clubcard or if that was getting a bit greedy. Had a look on Paidtoshop and seems using CC is fine so will do that when I go later this afternoon. I have four tescos that I pass regularly so am going to start making use of MOCs.0 -
I always use my clubcard, as we are not doing anything wrong if offering non-store specific (nss) MOCS that are all different & all in date. It's as good a payment as any to Tesco.
Well done hidetheplastic, you got the hang of it quickly! Just be aware that one day, somewhere when you are least expecting it, you'll get the old harridan on the till who will refuse/scowl/say your internet ones are photocopies/omit to scan some coupons.
Be calm and assured that it's OK, as per Tesco HO, to shop like this as long as your coupons are indeed all nss, in date and different.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This happened today. All the tills were manned by unhappy looking middle aged women. The one I went to scanned the first few then told me that was my limit. I didn't argue and paid the £19 difference in cash. Walking away I realised she'd not used the 3 coke vouchers and I'd bought two lots!
I went to CS and a very helpful lady had to go and find the coupon policy. She confirmed that the SA should have taken the vouchers after reading the policy. She also kindly let me photocopy the stores 'Coupon Policy' in case I have probs in future and refunded my cash. Result :beer:0 -
Um, am I missing something here? Isn't this kind of unethical?
Not sure about the ethics; at the end of the day, Tesco or whichever supermarket get the vouchers redeemed by the manufacturer or whoever issued them. I have been using the Coke vouchers in most of the supermarkets, but I have actually been buying the item.
If Tesco policy is to take any coupon, that is fine, the onus is on them to redeem them. I was told a few years ago, Tesco would take any coupon ( IN DATE !!! ) as long as they actually stocked or sold the product.
What annoys me is where people happily post that they use other store issued or out of date coupons and seem to think it is funny to do so. Does this not constitute fraud ???? What next, passing forged banknotes to the big supermarkets ?
Perhaps if anyone has spoken to the supermarkets head offices and got a copy of company policy regarding coupons / vouchers, they could let us have a look at itHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have a copy of the one used by SA at my local Tesco if that's any use. Not sure if it store wide or specific to the one I use.0
