    Hi Guys,

I too have made the mistake of going for tiscali, and guess what, I've got problems. I was initialy quite impressed when I was connecting at 2.3m, when I was only paying for 512k.

My connection is being dropped regularly (i'm talking minutes) and then I can't get back on again (no dial tone apparently). I'm also getting an error compalining about other apps using my usb bandwidth (even though i've unplugged everything but the modem).

Here's the best bit, when my connection is lost, the only was I can reconnect is to lift the handest on my telephone, and as the nice BT lady tells me to 'replace my handset & try again', my broadband suddenly reconnects. Only problem here is that if I replace the handset, I lose my connection again.

I'm also getting lots of interferance on the telephone (you can here the modem doing it's stuff in the background)

I've been on to the helpline (several times), and finally got them to get my line tested, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Any ideas on what I could ask them to do to try and resolve the issue?
Sounds like the same as me (although it could be a line filter problem)........note that you have a 2Mb line capped at 512k......not a 2Mb line!!! You need to ask them to provision a 512k line if youre too far from the local BT exchange......however I suspect you will soon reach a brick wall with the call centre, who are too scared, inefficient or stoopid to escalate anything to technical support.

I used to have a phone number for Technical Support in Milton Keynes.....01908 860... I think....

I suggest you initiate their complaints process if theyre not fixing the problem.

Your line wasn't connecting at 2.3mb, that's just to show what your line is capable of.

To resolve the issue the best thing would be to ask them to cancel your contract.

I was with Tiscali for 15 months. Started off fine then had a very slow ( less than 56k ) for 6 weeks. They eventually refunded me for one months payment. They also did agree to cancel as breach of their contract, but a gave them another chance.
When i did try to leave again (3 months ago), they upgraded my 512 to a 1 mb line and reduced they monthly charge to £22.99.

I stayed another 2 months but decided to leave while i had the chance after hearing lots of other horror stories !

I've been with dial up for too long!!, now I look really stupid :rotfl:

Anyway, I'm not 100% sure, but I think they might have got their finger out and actually sorted me out :j (must have been the watchdog threat).

    I suppose time will tell.

    Cheers Chaps
