  • Stardrops is your saviour :)

I put neat stardrops onto a cloth and then wiped the bottom of my oven. Left it for an hour, well i think it was about 2 and it wiped off with very mininal effort.
For the grill pan use a diluted solution of stardrops and water again left for a couple of hours then wiped off

You can buy stardrops from most supermarkets or Wilco. Costs between 63p and 75p

I have one of those black 'magic carpets' on the bottom of one of my ovens, unfortunately haven't got one for the second oven yet!

    Eek!

We lost a few links when the software was last changed - the MEGA Index was so big it broke the new system! :)

I'll see if I can find it and edit back in here...

Edit:- Just checked and it works fine for me. Maybe your clicking finger is broken :)

For future just buy a cheap non stick baking sheet and leave it in the bottom of the oven to catch stuff. Sainsbury do one for a few £. You can then just take the sheet out and wipe it now and again.

I find the oven liners work very well. Tescos do one called Cookaliner I think it is, I managed to get a couple from the £1 shop. Betterware and Kleeneze do them. Might find some on Ebay aswell. Lakeland also but very expensive there.

However that won't stop the black bits on the doors etc. When cleaning the doors if they are glass or have glass inserts be very careful, mine fell through, DP was sure it was held on with the muck (from when we bought it) and I cleaned it 'off'

I find a clean baking tray with white vinegar in placed in a warm oven works well, lifts it so you just have to rub it off. Starclens which is an ammonia based friend of Stardrops works well if it is yakky. Soda crystals solution is another that works well. Oven Pride a lot swear by which is expensive and very powerful (must use gloves!!) Baking trays and racks I put in bio wash powder solution which works well.

    Hi,

Squeaky's right, that thread was lost when the forum was updated. This is the most recent thread on oven cleaning:

    cleaning the oven

I'll add this thread to that one later to keep all the suggestions together.
