Hi, maria, as you will have read from other posters you can add your surname to your daughters making it a double barreled one, you can put whichever surname you want first (your daughter can eventually just not use the surname she does not want) My sister was in the same situation as you and she did this with her son who when he went to uni just dropped his father's surname. But to make it all 'legal' it would be better if you made the double barrelled surname 'offical' with a change by deed poll.

i used this deed poll for the bank and they accepted it and they changed my name to cole as that was the name i choose it asks for 2 witnesses if u think this is lies you can pay a lawyer £10-15 to change your name:T:T:T:beer::beer::money:

22 years ago I changed my surname to that of my Step Dad (for an anniversary present).
It was with an established Lawyer in my home town, and back then it cost £15.
I have no idea what the cost would be now, but surely not for free??

Check Wikipedia for the phrase "Deed of change of name"

Wording

The following simple wording is sufficient:[3]
Change of name deed by [former name] of [address]
I have given up my name [former name] and have adopted for all purposes the name [new name].
