well i spent most of yesterday afternoon baking and trying to make meals from left overs, lol! I've only got £55 left in grocery budget for next 2 weeks so i'm going to have to be very creative. i'm trying to delay shopping until I absolutely have to go!
On a brighter note the car boot season will be kicking off at Easter so hopefully I'll be able to ''earn' a few extra pennies there. i have mountains of stuff to sell!Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Ex OH asked me to go see him this eve for 'a chat'. He basically wanted me to promise to give him half the profit from the house if/when i sell it. I'd originally agreed to it but after thinking about it realised that I'd raised the deposit and am paying that back separately and also I'd agreed to transfer his cc debts to mine a few years ago so am paying them too. He got in a bit of a huff when i pointed this out but don't think I'm being unfair. Am I??
Has anyone got any experience. We both have debts and I think mine are more than his, although he's a bit cagey about the actual amount. He said he will have to declare himself bankrupt if he has no prospect of ever getting any money from the house!
I think he's being a bit melodramatic as his income is not much different than mine and I have kids living with me and bigger outgoings but am 'just' managing.
If he does that will that mean I'll lose the house anyway as it's in joint names?
I said we should get the house valued and then take into consideration the debt we both have before agreeing an amount. I thought that was reasonable.
Has anyone got any advice please?Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Hi Jayne C, I don't know about the impact of bankruptcy and am unsure if you are married and separated, divorced or originally living together, now split up. I would suggest that whichever it is you need to take some proper legal advice about your situation.
It seems reasonable to me that you take into account all the debts and original contributions to deposits etc. What worries me is that these matters are always difficult and they don't get any easier by leaving them unresolved and with no written agreement between you.
I would also not assume that exOH has not sought any legal advice of his own. Seeking some free advice at this point from either a law centre/citizens advice solicitor or a free half hour does not commit you to involving solicitors directly in sorting things out (which only lines there pockets anyway), but will help you both reach a reasonable resolution.
Good luck with sorting this out.

Hi
its a follow on from Tara's post, I dont know ur circumstances but if your on benefits - then that opens up to Legal Help, so if there was complications with the paperwork and who stands where and with what - def worth asking a solicitor if you are elegabile for legal help. You may need to ring round a few solicitors, one piece of advice, dont go 2 a one man band solicitors, go for a larger firm there have specialists - better advice. (Nothing personal to any solicitors firm, but from experience).
Good luck. x
PS How did the baking go? xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi
PS How did the baking go? xx
Hi,
The baking went well I made a bit batch of hobnobs and chocolate brownies. THey've all gone now tho! Had to make more brownies last night and also stewed some apples for apple crumble, mmmm.
Thanks for the support re ex. I'm not on benefits so no legal aid:rolleyes: But I understand you can get a free initial half hour consultation with solicitors so I'm thinking I'll do that.Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Hi again everyone,
Been thinking about ex (not sought any legal advice yet) and think I'm gonna give him details of my budget and debts in detail as he seems to be under the impression I'm somehow doing well out the situation at his expense. It might also inspire him to actually try and sort out his debts instead of trying to avoid them!
On another tack, DD3 is 16 this year (September) and wants to go London to see 'Lord of the Rings' on stage for her birthday, so I'm trying to find as cheap a way to do this as poss. I've already found a youth hostel we can stay in and pay for with Tesco clubcard deals and have discovered that I can exchange nectar points and ipoints for theatre tokens so i'm trying to save as many points as possible to do that - see if I can get enough to pay for the tickets in full!! Wish me luck!!
I think I've already got enough clubcard vouchers so I'm thinking I might start shopping at Sainsbury's instead of Tesco to get nectar points - or I could shop online through mysupermarket and get ipoints as well as clubcard points. I'll have to try and work out which would be more profitable!!

I think you really need proper advice on this, from a family lawyer.
Lots of solicitors do a free half hour interview, you could try that to start with?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Hello again,
I'm not progressing very well with my debt but at least it's not getting worse! I'm thinking I might set up a standing order for my credit card as at the mo I have DD for min payment and just pay extra if I can. If I have a standing order it should mean I'm progressively paying off a bigger percentage right?
I'd saved £10 in 20p's but that had to go in HSBC account to pay towards the unexpected credit card payment, would've normally gone towards the debt:rolleyes: . All debits have gone out now and I've just about managed to cover it within my overdraft!
I'm at £14 with £2 coins so that will soon be up to another £20 and I can pay that towards credit card.
I'm also all set for Carboot on Easter Monday and probably every weekend after for the rest of the season, lol. I'm thinking I can take my knitting/craft stuff and get on with making things whilst I'm there - is that extreme multi tasking!Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'
