Sorry to hear about your split from your husband. Hope you are doing ok on that front.

Don't worry about 'going on a bit.' I think most of us were like that when we started here.

I can't really offer any advice as you're already doing all the things I would have suggested but I just wanted to wish you luck. You do sound as if you have you're head screwed on properly so I'm sure that you will get through this. The light at the end of the tunnel may seem a long way off but it is still there.

Thanks, I am doing ok. It's all a bit surreal still and he was quite resentful at first, but I finally managed to be completely honest about the way I was feeling (I was trying to 'let him down gently') and now he understands and accepts that it's over. Now I just want to concentrate on the future which will hopefully be much better:D

    Ok I have a plan...

I was thinking whether I could pay off my balance from MBNA before I transfer my balance from HSBC.

I'm going to use £200 of money from ex (he actually pays it as £300 a month) and then use A&L credit card to pay for petrol and some shopping (£50 per week) I can then pay it off when he gives me next months money and I can keep doing that so I won't pay interest. I only have £200 limit on that card so can't use the whole £300. That will work won't it, does it make sense?

Plus I have just received a back payment from Child Benefit (they stopped paying for DD2 before they should've) of £133, so I can use that too.

I'll wait and see what I get paid on 31st and if there's any in excess of my budget I'll use that as well.

Might not be able to pay it all but every little helps eh :)

    Hi everyone,

well I've paid the £333 off MBNA that I was planning to and DD1 has given me £60 today that she owes her dad (but is paying to me) and DD2 has given me £25 that she owed for xmas presents I bought online for her with my card. So that's another £85. Get paid on Thurs so I'll be able to see if I can pay anymore when I know how much I get.

I'm getting ridiculously excited about paying money off my credit card. lol.

Any ideas about how I could raise another £400ish by end of the week (legally ;))

  • Can't help with raising that much by the end of the week, sorry! But congratulations on how far you've progressed in such a short time.

Sorry to hear about your split and can't really give you any advice as you seem to be doing everything already so well done
  • Earn £400 by the end of the week......

Hmmm... If know it's very obvious but if I'm stuggling with cash flow I always throw a few things on Ebay (providing of course you have a few items you're willing to part with) I simply end the auction after 1 day, if they sell - great! If not... oh well, you're only down a few £££ (insertions fee)

    Sorry, hope it helps??

Thanks, I've been a bit reluctant to use e-bay has I've not had that much success, but maybe I will try again. DD2 has been given mountains of baby clothes and there's lots of girls clothes (she's since discoved it's a boy) so might try selling them as bundles there's about 5or6 boxes lol. Have some clothes from DD3 too, was gonna car boot them but it's too cold yet:p
Also have some books to put on Amazon too but they prob won't sell immediately.

I should really just get on with it shouldn't I? I've been here for 2 an half hours+ an was only coming on for a quick look, lol.

I've paid another £100 off MBNA today so that's £433 in total, not bad.

I notice you're from Cheshire, I used to live in Cheshire, where abouts are you (if you don't mind me askin?)
