Orange demanding ££ for unlocking ?
:j Everyone, this is my first post, so go easy on me.
I've decided enough was enough with Orange, they weren't giving my the phone I wanted despite being with them for more than 15 months. So i walked. I requested my phone to be unlocked. They demanded £20 for the service which they said is not 'going to Orange' but 'to the phone unlocking service'
Are they having me on or there's some fine print somewhere ?
Ta.

Sometimes it is at the "advisors" descretion to do it free or not, in this case you could have got an advisor who thought "well their leaving us, might as well charge them".
It probably is standard but i bet if you upgraded with them and then asked for it to be unlocked, it would have been free.0 -
i think they say the payment is for the admin charges for unlocking code
what model is it? you may be able to do it for free0 -
what phone were you trying to get off them out of interest and what was monthly spend?0

I'm using Treo 600, going for Treo 650. I'm on OVP 200 (£30) monthly , never exceeded usage (probably happy to see me go ).
I'm moving to O2 which is offering the 650.
Doubt anyone having the codes though

i think the second link is for firmware 3.05/3.06
to check which yours is:
With wireless mode on, go to the phone app, menu->options->phone info0 -

Rocephin,
Your phone may say unlocked but you need to put a diff network sim in it to be sure, I had to put 2 codes in my phone (different phone) and after each code it said unlocked, but only after the second code did the new sim work.0
