Nuclear keyring anyone?

It seems obvious who the seller is. Even defending the more expensive ones (despite the cheaper ones having the same (nite glowring) written on the side.0

I was thinking the same, why pay £15 for a keyring when you can get freebie ones that have built in bottle openers etc!0 -

Its also radioactive. Thats why it glows in the dark! However, its radiation cannot penetrate human skin, so it is only dangerous if inhaled or ingested.
It was also the stuff that was in Trimphone dials. I was with PO Telephones/British Telecom/BT at the time they were taken out of service, and we had to have special storage arrangements, unless we had too many in one place. The rumour was that someone in Health & Safety was worried that they might achieve critical mass! !!!!!!.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
No im not the seller. I just had an interest in them because I just read a book about WW2 submarines they used this stuff for lighting in them, an interesting read. nothing more.0

Tritium gas is very dodgy stuff and I would tay well away from it!!!!!!!!!
If the gas escapes, which is could easily do as it can penetrate rubber and some grades of steel !!! it can be absorbed into the body and keep giving of Beta radiation for up to 2 years
The Industrys that use it treat it with great caution, so I would stay well awayLiving the Dream...............:A
Every little helps0 -
The military use a tiny dot of Tritium as a light source in the foresight of the Sa80 assault rifle.
There is quite an extensive procedure to follow if one of these breaks.
Tritium also used to be used to illuminate gauge dials but was replaced by photoluminescent materials due to the hazards (especially in Submarines where ventilation is poor)0 -
I do wonder about some of the items that we use as toys or novelties sometimes. It isn't that long ago for instance that leaded paint was routinely used in all childrens things. It is easy to assume that since something is on general sale it MUST be safe.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
