Housing Market Downturn - Really?!

...when I called and asked to view. I told them my budget was up to £280k, and she >politely< suggested that it wasn't worth my time viewing as the vendor wants o/o + 30%.
I suggested that this was a bit high, only to be told that this was normal for 'the West end'...
Good luck to 'em...

£312K for a view of Topps Tiles? No thanks. The property next to the garage/flyover sold in that region: larger plot and had been extended.0 -

At worst i would say the market here has leveled out. The rate of increase over the past 2 years has been outrageous and we need a flat market for a couple of years at least so 1st timers can get a chance to get on the ladder.
I've put a bid in today. I'm pretty sure I won't get it as i'm bidding less than 10% over. The house went up for sale last week, and went to a closing date on Friday. Offers to be in by Wednesday. Another house went up for sale on Wednesday and it's under offer today. Oh well, nothing ventrued nothing gained.0 -
My friend in North West London currently has 2 people fighting over his house at asking price. He had 20 people view it in the last week. Slowdown my **** :cool:0

I've been using property-bee for 10 days and I am seeing price reductions.
In my area these are mostly in peasant housing and those over £250k.
However, 10 days is not a representative snapshot of an area, so I will have to wait 4-6 weeks to see a truer picture.
You cannot say there is no crash on because one property is popular. Especially if you've not linked to it.0 -
Flats in central london and still flying off the shelves too. I bid on a 2 bed penthouse flat in Kings Cross... it was advertised at "offers over" £60k... I bid £65k and was STILL outbid! It just goes to show how BOOMING our housing market is.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0
