Post Office Reg Mail - Undelivered

Glad I saw this thread it reminded me to phone RM. I'm currently claiming for lost recorded mail (only about £10 worth). I got a confirmation that they were processing my P58 claim form a month ago 8th of Jan to be precise. Bearing in mind I actually sent the item in October and I put in a claim in November!!!!
So result of telephone conversation wasn't a surprise. The recipient hasn't sent back the form that was sent. So they're sending another one (I'm not holding my breath, it was a dodgy ebay seller in the first place). Then if no response to that I have to fill in an indemnity form to get my money. Wish I could have done that in the first place. 4-5 months at least to get my measly sum of money. If this is the same procedure for claiming on ordinary 1st and 2nd class I really do wonder what the point of Recorded is if the lack of signature doesn't prove anything."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

SPANIEL36...because signatures are captured on delivery cards, taken back to the relevant delivery offices by the posties, then forwarded to a centralised place, (judgeing from your location you will be well aware where that is lol), the are all then scanned, these images come up on a screen and data keyers then have to type the 13 digit codes for every single item and that then gets loaded up to the internet....THAT is the reason you dont get to see the signature 10 minutes after its been signed for.
sorry...what i meant was that when i checked online to see if it had been delivered...it was still saying check back later but we knew the lady had received the letter. even now its still saying check back later..
i fully understand about the signature screening bit, i just wanted to know it had been delivered!!!!0 -
I think this is much more likely. The CPW/E2save brigade rarely sign for the recorded delivery items and you'll see this mentioned over and over again on the mobile phone board. The very last few claims I submitted to them went special delivery and were signed for.
all have been signed for when ive posted recorded.0 -
ive had problems recently, with a new job and sending them 3 letters with various ID info in. 1 was delivered 11 days later, and the other 2 claim not to have been delivered even tho the recipient has confirmed she has the items i sent...
i have no idea how i go about claiming, as i sent it recorded for a reason!!! the latest thing i had to send to them i sent SD as i got fed up with RM site sayin 'not delivered'.
am i able to claim? or will they think im defrauding? or maybe they havent updated web details?!
does recorded not apply to business's (sp?!)?0 -

If I'm reading your post correctly, the tracking hasn't reported the items as delivered but in reality they have? If that's the case then I don't think there's anything you can claim for except maybe late delivery. If you wanted compensation (which is £34 maximum at the moment I think for recorded) for lost post you'd have to claim the items weren't delivered and also the recipient would have to agree with you and of course that would be fraud."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

FALSE. ive had cashback claims from both over the last 3 years. 2 years were every fourth bill and this year it was only 2 bills. CPW dont have a time limit on when u send the bills tho

then recently, i was told i had to send in x month but i calculated it and it was a month out so i foned back and she said 'its actually x month but ur not out of pocket... u can claim for both months together, just put them in 2 envelopes'. 2 weeks later i got 2 cheques0 -
Yea thats it, they have the items but rm doesnt say its been delivered. nothing of value bar sum passport photo's but could it be a case that they havent updated their web details but their system shows it is delivered?

I'm not sure you can do that. As far as RM are concerned, lack of signature does NOT mean lack of delivery so I don't think there's anything you can ask for under their own procedures. You could try but consider that I'm still in the process of claiming just £10 for an item genuinely lost sent recorded in October! I don't think you'll get a refund on postage just because it wasn't signed for. You could argue that they didn't provide the service you paid for but I honestly don't think it's worth your time pursuing it. It's probably cost me as much in phone calls and time etc in pursuing my ten quid."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
