This is stage 2...having taught reception for a good few years I pretty much know them off by heart. It's not different across the UK as the reading scheme doesn't change where it's used.
Kipper wanted a party
Nobody wanted to come
He got his toys
Prizes for guessing the book that comes from!!!!! (Not bad seeing as I stopped teaching 4 years ago now...looks like my pre baby brain may be back)Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

IS it strange that we dont get these word lists for Dd who is in reception?
I think they do them in class instead as she seems to know some of them!0 -
no, not strange at all.
we don't hand out lists to parents.
we do them in class and concentrate on reading the oxford reading tree books once a day along with key words.
at home we encourage parents to read other books so the children get a wide range of books read to them and also for them to read.
it works well.0 -
Thank you everyone. Just one other request...... does anyone have a list of the high frequency words for Yr2+ please?0
-
Children no longer have specific year words in the way they used to in the National Literacy Strategy
High frequency words are used in phases now.
Appendix 1 of "letters and sounds", the phonics guidance issued by DFES, has these words.
You'll find them here

Just wondered if anyone knew what the key words/ high frequency wordlist was for the Oxford Reading Tree books? They come in different stages (eg. stage 1, 2, 3, etc)
and I'd love a list of the stage 2 and 3 words if anyone has them at home (might be sent home for your child to learn)
Many thanks
