Oxford Reading Scheme (Stage 2) Help Please

Hello everyone,

Does anyone's kids do the Oxford Reading Scheme (Biff, Chip & Kipper stories) at school?

I have lost the "key words" for stage 2 books and wonder if anyone has them please? It'll be about 8-10 words that school normally give the kids to sight learn before they start on stage 2.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Zziggi

Hi, my daughter does these books and I know the word lists you mean - in her school the first set are called butterfly words, then ladybird words, spider and so on.....if you tell me the last ones she had then I could probably tell you.......HTH

have you looked on the internet? or tried your local library?

BTW - my DS2 (now 20) read these at primary school, and I thought they were great!

    High frequency words:

a, and, at, am, all, I, in, it, is, to, he, we, see, she, me, mum, dad, cat, can, dog, yes, no, get, up, big, the, this, they, like, you, of, on, go, going, come, went, my, was, are, for, day, play, away, look, said

These are the words for the first stages (1, 1+, 2). They might include extra words as my son's school does the Oxford Reading Scheme but also uses Storyworlds.

BTW, you can get a nice set of Flashcards with them on from Waterstones etc. which you can play "snap" and "make a sentence" and other games with, which seem to go down well with my two (Year 1 and nursery).

    Hello,

Thanks everyone for your help. When DS did these words he was given a number of flashcard words to learn just before he was given a new stage of books to help familiarise him to the new words that are in that particular stage. I am doing these with my DD now and re-using DS's flashcards but i have lost stage 2 (or more accurately, the words he was given just before stage 2).

P.S. DD's nursery & attached school do GINN scheme so are giving her different words but the school she will go to does Oxford scheme - hence why i want to concentrate on Oxford scheme.

    I have stage 1 words - a/and/the/dad/mum/biff/floppy/kipper/chip

    stage 2 - ????

    stage 3 words - am/I/looked/climbed/barked/tree/children/played/
    Wilma/Wilf/what/on/gave/ jumped/Get/at/get/down/couldn't/up/am

    Thanks in advance

And we never had word lists, just the books! But I remember them well: DH was the same age as Biff, Chip and Kipper's Dad when DS1 started school! Sadly DH aged ...
