Problems with "3"

I'll start from the beginning.

Three has always been a cheap company and i could forgive its lack of UK call centres because of that.

I've been a customer for just over a year, when i recieved a phonecall at my home from a 3 sales agent, (not from UK) and was looking to speak to my partner about a three contract.

She then asked me what i was paying a month. I duly exclaimed it was about £20 a month with 3. I was then informed that she could get me a better deal and a new handset.

Obviously i was intrigued, so i asked how this would affect my current contract and i was told "this won't be a problem" and went on to mention this every few minutes or so.

The new phone arrived through and i automatically removed the old sim etc, and traded my phone on Freecycle.

I then recieved 2 bills in December, which i thought nothing of as this was the old contract which i had used, but then it happened in January.

I called them up and asked to cancel my old contract and after 20 odd minutes of being put on hold and back and forth, i was told i had been given a NEW CONTRACT, and NOT an upgrade which of course is still running.

I was then told that if i was to terminate my old contract there would be a termination fee of £264 and if i wished to terminate my new contract, i could do this without charge, although i would have to send everything back. And of course the sales agent who sold me the phone wasn't to be found.

I wrote a scathing complaint letterand sent it off yesterday, on the letter i specifically asked not to be called at home or on my mobile but in writing. Suprise Suprise phonecall on mobile and then 2 mins later call at home.

I'll update with the outcome, but i wanted to pass on a note of caution.

  • You are not alone.

I have always asked three to contact me by email or letter as I work shifts and don't want to be woken up by phone calls. They have always ignored this.

I sent them a letter last week about it asking not to contact me by phone anymore. They have responded to this letter by trying to contact me by phone about it!

To be specific, I received around thirty calls to 2 mobile numbers and my landline within a forty minute period this afternoon which is the worst case of harassment I have ever heard of.

I have passed it onto Otelo to deal with. I might even see if the police would take up the case of harassment.
