Thanks Guys! I recieved a leaflet from Simplee Solar today, and thinking it sounded to good to be ture found you lot discussing them. Needless to say I won't be filling in my details, but I will return the pre paid card to them, as this will mean they will have to pay the postage
. I know it doesn't amount to much, but if we all sent back blank pre paid cards, they may at least re-think sending these out to unsuspecting people.

Hi
Some excellent advice coming to us idiots on the forum.....I too invited them in, and no credit agreement, so that rules out the cooling off period. I'm going for misrepresentation....anyone got any quick links to useful info on this? I've already written to cancel, accept they can go for loss of profits if they can disprove my case, but unlikely to lose much more than I've already paid out on Visa! The link to Consumer Direct above is an East Midlands number but they#re going to get local Trading Standards to contact me asp. My next stop would be small claims court....

We are in exactly the same mess - have paid £2000 deposit and have had solar panels fitted. Decided we are being ripped off when one was placed in wrong place on roof - have since found out that we only need spend £3500 not £6785 as Simplee Solar quoted. They have lied about grants available and completely misled us. The last contact with them ended in the 'gentleman' on the other end of the phone being really offensive to my husband and telling us that they will see us in court!! How are you getting on?0

There are some excellent Solar companies out there who will do the work for between £4 - 7,000 for a 2 panel system. More for larger houses and where the water is currently heated by combination boilers.
We had ours done and I will happily pass on details if required - I get an introductory £25 which I will gladly share with anyone who makes an appointment. They do have a cooling off period by the way!!

Just thought some of you would be interested to read about Simplee Solar's national press coverage, in the Mirror for example: http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/tm_headline=solar-panel-cheats-fined--pound-40k-for-cooking-up-lies%26method=full%26objectid=18159749%26siteid=62484-name_page.html .
More information about solar systems, and suggestions of reputable and decent traders can be obtained from the Solar Trade Association or http://www.realassurance.org.uk - a code of practice for suppliers of micro generation equipment.0 -
Yes it looks as though Solar panels have become the new double glazing, with all the crooks and conmen jumping onto the bandwagon. A hundred years ago these same crooks would have been selling fake "cure-all" pills or medicine. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Check out Dorset Trading standards today:-
On 24 November 2006, at Bournemouth Crown Court, Simplee Solar Limited were found guilty of seven offences committed under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 after a four day trial. The company was fined a total of £40,000, and was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £ 27,000. The prosecution was brought by Dorset County Council’s Trading Standards Service, following a lengthy investigation into complaints made by consumers.0 -
Are Simplee Solar and Simply Solar the same company?
I saw a board at a dreadfully badly installed system in Harpenden at the weekend. Panels protrude above the roof line from the rear, pipework visible on the roof and some incredible black trunking stretching from the front panel to the one on the rear.0 -
People in the Midlands beware, Simplee Solar are opperating in the Stafford area and no doubt others...
The envelope was through my door yesterday, not sure if Royal Mail delivered it in which case, it is a disgrace!!!

And they were on Watchdog last night so hopefully everyone knows about them, but I dare say 20 or so houses on my estate will be having them round very soon! I am even tempted to flyer the whole estate to warn people, but shuld I bother wasting my time and money?!?!0
