I had problems with Tax Credits, I called up to tell them my partner had started working. They were like "fine fine details changed etc etc" I got a letter 2weeks later, we have overpaid you etc etc, "supposedly" i didn't tell them I was living with my partner, which I know I did because It was the first thing I did when my phone line went active. Anyways they said it was FRAUDULENT "yeah ok, you just happened to NOT have the phone convo" meh heh. Anyways Im stuck paying back 2k, but they won't put you to jail or anything! They'll send out a form you need to phone and tell them your income/outcome, and then you make a payment plan....and you don't pay interest on it!Win £2008 in 2008 no #49 £601.91/£2008

Dont worry, make a payment plan. Im sure youll be fine. They are used to people making mistakes. Whats the worst that could happen? If you struggle with overpayments try to negotiate and look at the old style board for tips on saving money on your groceries.
Your son doesnt need a stressed out dad. Dont beat yourself up over a silly mistake.:j0 -
As you still get tax credits now, they will take back the overpayment from the payments you get now. If you only get £10/wk they will take it all & you won't get any tax credits for a while. If you have a v low income and so have a high tax credit award they will take 10%. Ortherwise they will take 25%. The sooner you tell them, the sooner you can get things sorted out.0

I doubt that will happen. All they will do is tell you how much you have been overpaid and adjust your paymetns accordingly. Happens all the time with me as I notify of changes and they don't amend. STOP STRESSING!!Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0

Your like me then, worrying even though you kind of know there's no point! I dont think fraud will come into it.
Take one step at a time and please try to keep stressing to a minimum.:j0
