Mothercare Cot spares

Worth posting a photo of the part you need?0

Just wanted to add a good news story on spare parts for cots as it was inspired by this post. I needed a replacement base for my John Lewis cot and emailed them to ask if I could buy one. They replied to say their manufacturer couldnt get one. After reading the posts on here last night, and after going through a number of people and complaining that the company had a duty to provide spare parts for their goods for a reasonable length of time, I finally had an email to say I could buy a replacement cot base for £35 - yay!!! Go MSE! So much better than a new whole JL cot! :T:A0

Go MSE and John Lewis bowing to the greatness of the other Lewis - hehe! I too have the curse of the broken drop-side catch. Internet search to purchase such a spare has yielded no results, and Mothercare customer service worse than useless - it's so blatant that they cannot see why you don't just come and buy a shiny new one! They wouldn't even consider ordering a spare part unless I could provide a proof of purchase! Ridiculous. Going to my original plan of cobbling something together. But if anyone else has had success getting a replacement catch (or bought a pair and didn;t need the right hand side one!) I'd be interested buying the right replacement.0

I've had the same problem with the dropside catches. They aren't allowed to supply them for old cots because the mechanism has now been changed to a safer design but the are obliged to supply them if the cot is less than 2 years old even if it has the old style catches.
I only know this because my local mothercare said that they'd had to 'fib' on the order form to order them for me.0 -
I think I have the solution for most people here. I broke one dropside catch on our Mothercare cot when leaning on it and stumbled across this thread whilst looking for a solution. In the end I noticed that many Mothercare cots are made by Cosatto. I visited their website (www cosatto com) and e-mailed their customer care people. I had a response within 5 minutes and after sending them a photo of the broken catch they have offered me a new pair for £7.50 delivered.
Our cot is at least 8 years old!
I was so chuffed with this that I have joined this forum just to post this reply. Good luck all!0 -

The dropside catches on our cot broke at some point between baby one and baby two - so I ended up propping the side up on bricks. Worked just fine...0
