Rabbit questions

Hi
I have had 4 rabbits now (still got 3) and they will eat most plants if they can get to them. As suggested above chicken wire is very good at keeping them away from the plants, but do be careful as it can be quite sharp at the edges when cut and can cut a rabbit very easily.
Rabbits do tend to avoid plants which are bad for them, but to help the following are not good for a Bunny's tummy:
Daffodils
Buttercups - unless dried and in small quantities
Bluebells
Clematis
Holly
Ivy
Poppy
Tulip
Primrose
Even if he doesn't eat them he may still bite the leaves off- one of mine did this to all the plants around the edge of the garden!?

We've just got ourselves a gorgeous bunny and we've got her a tray but she's only used it twice. I bought a rabbit book but it's hardly mentioned! Are there special pellets I could buy to encourage her?0

Not sure - ours just taught himself!
Is your rabbit in a cage? It might be worth doing that if the's not, then she can make a home... She'll use her litter tray one end and eat/drink the other. Remember they don't pee/poo (unless it's a runny accident!) near their food so make sure that's well away.
Make sure you collect any pee/poo and put it in the tray - she'll soon learn that's the loo.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I keep putting all her mess in there but she's not getting the message! She's got a big hutch outside but has free run of the garden for 2/3 hours of the day which she LOVES. She doesn't really 'go' that much in the hutch actually. Hmmm maybe she's destined to be a pooping machine.0 -
Some rabbits learn by themselves but others need abit of a nudge!
The way we taught ours was to see where they went to the toilet alot. Youll proberbly find they go to the toilet in one particular corner/place. Then when you clean the rabbit out, put the tray in the corner where he/she goes and she should still go in the same place.
To give the rabbit abit more of a nudge you can put some of his/her poo in the tray so she/he knows what its there for.
Seemed to work okay for our little bunnies!I'm getting married in August 2015:j0 -

I am the proud owner of two gorgeous french lop rabbits, who I recently rehomed because they just weren't wanted.
Although they are big I hadn't counted on the amount of food they would eat between them. I read rabbit books before I decided to rehome them and am feeding them a mainly fresh diet, with a bowl of rabbit complete pellets occassionally.
Thing is the fresh vegetables they need costs around £20.00 a week, where I can I pick up seconds etc but the cost is much more than expected. Any tips on picking up vegetables or fruit cheap or free?
I am growing my own so in a few weeks can slot free food into their diets!0
