Car hire Spain/Portugal

Their agent in Faro (who's office is a dumped car in the car park with four flat tyres and moss growing out of it),
I think you'll find it's the other way around! Economycarhire will be the 'agent' of the supplier in Faro!
As we keep saying on here, most of the websites are BROKERS for suppliers at each location. Your poor experience in Faro will have no bearing on anyone booking through 'Economy' in, say, Alicante!
To warn others, you should quote the name of the supplier in Faro so they can be avoided.0 -
Just for information if it may help anyone, we book with Carjet whenever we can when we have been to Alicante the last 4-5 years but when I booked last minute last August Carjet had nothing suitable available. I remembered that one of the companies that we'd previously got the car from (as Carjet are just the brokers and deal with a few different companies) was Centauro. Their price was just a few euros less than Carjet and they operate a full to full policy.0

I suppose it depends who you see as the principal in the transaction, but to save any disagreement I will restate in your terminology -
My experience was I found that Economycarhire had decided to act as a broker for a company in Faro that was completely useless and supplied old and faulty cars. When this was brought to Economycarhire's attention they were not interested.
I have the view that if Economycarhire have decided to act as a broker for this type of low quality company in Faro, then they are probably acting as a broker for similar low quality companies elsewhere. So when you get a problem, as you are likely to with this type of low quality company, then you should not expect Economycarhire to try to resolve the problem.
Hence my recommendation to avoid Economycarhire at all costs.
And don't pay any attention to their customer comments page, they only put on the good comments.
...and you still haven't told us who the supplier was at Faro that we need to avoid!0 -
Possibly Travelrent - they provided us with a car which had been registered in October 06 - only a year old, no problems with it.
Our hire car supplied by "Hiper" in Menorca was a virtually brand new Touran - less than 1,000km on the clock.
So no complaints from me.0
