  • I hope you recovered from the marsh mallows.

Nasal passages still a tad clogged up, even after getting rid of the world's stickiest!! ;D

  • What value of calls do you need to make in order for them to invoice you? My bill is a massive £1.33 and was wondering if they have a floor limit when once reached they invoice you.

    Cheers
My 18866 bills have a time-rlated pattern rather than (apparently) having anything to do with the amount.

My bills have been on 27/6/04, 27/8/04 and, would you believe, 27/10/04.
Hey. hope you dont mind me dropping in on this thread. I am on One-Tel at the mo, but thinking of switching to 18866. Do any of you guys use a phone (like a cordless digital) with one of those 'phone books' in so you can dial 18866+number in one go, or do you have to dial 18866 first, wait a bit, and then dial the number you want?
No need to change.  Just use the 2 systems (with 1899 as well for cheaper international calls to some destinations) at the same time.

I'd been on OneTel's (free) International Talk (dial 1877 prefix) for some years but changed to their (free) Carrier PreSelect StandardUKTalk when I became aware (thanks to this site) of call18866.com.

That way, I got free weekend UK (01 & 02) calls and free (118-111) Directory Enquires on OneTel and flat rate 1p UK (01 and 02) calls on 18866 during the day and weekday evenings.

I could've changed to TalkTalk CPS instead for free evening UK calls for a year but with 18866 calls being only 1p each, it wasn't worth the hassle (IMHO).

Did the same thing - signed up to Onetel in August (got the £20 sign on credit), used mostly 18866 then saw the TalkTalk offer, so signed to them. Got the £10 fee for TalkTalk - Onetel moved me to their International Talk option (free directory enquiries) and left me with the residue of the credit (£15) - which comes in useful for those 0870 numbers ;D
  • Can I change the topic slightly. My phone line is with Telewest. When I recieved the newsletter from Moneysaver.com regarding 18866 I signed up immediately because it was only 1p connection charge and the call was free. About a week after using this service I am now charged 1/2p per minute on all land line calls and 14p per minute to mobiles.

Has this happened to any one else?

    Thnks

18866 announced quite a while ago that they were going to charge customers who accessed them via their 0800 or 020 number (i.e. cable and mobile customers) at a higher rate then they charge BT customers who access them by dialing the 18866 prefix.

The new prices you will pay are at http://www.call18866.co.uk/mobilerates.php

There is also the following on http://18866.com/index2.php under latest news :

    (15.09.2004) Tariff changes for calls via access numbers 0808 170 77 88 and 020 7001 9797
    Dear customer,
Regrettably we have been forced to change the tariffs for calls via our access numbers 0808 170 77 88 and 020 7001 9797. This is due to higher costs charged by other operators we unfortunately have to pass on.
You can find the new prices here.
Please note that all calls via access code 18866 remain the same rates as before!!

    Regards
    Sunil
