My Grandad was head tea taster for Premier Beverages and would be turning in his grave to know I no longer drink his 99 blend....

Just thought of a couple of other things:

I don't cook with wine that isn't good enough to drink, regardless of how cheap it is
Milk - organic unless I genuinely can't get hold of it
Bin bags - biodegradable wherever possible

Won't compromise on cheap fatty mince which I find to be a false economy in the long run, good quality smoked bacon and home-made butchers' sausages. I'd rather use less and enjoy the quality. Quite happy to try new "own brand" tinned products bought for storecupboard use although mostly buy fresh stuff.

I use Liz Earle face stuff (buy it from their seconds shop on ebay to save money!)

I think my 'cheap mince trial' has gone on long enough, back to steak mince I think, I made some meatballs, turned out to just be meatmush in sauce  Very unappetising, I can see it sitting at the bottom of my freezer for some time to come. HM burgers don't look appealing either. The UHT has been a sucessful switch though, and since I found out today that my town does have a butcher & greengrocers, hopefully I can save money (simple by not entering a supermarket!) & not compromise on quality.

meatmush in sauce goes quite nicely on jacket spuds with cheese, or as a pizza topping ;)

hmmm when I think about it, foodwise I don't compromise on much

    these are my must haves

    pepsi max
    kenco coffee
    cadburys drinking chocolate
    organic milk/eggs
decent meat-trying to go organic with this too when funds allow
mcvittie's digestives-own brands just don't crumble the same!
shampoo/conditioner-like others I have very long hair and look after it
soap-dove extra sensitive as I have ecxema
    hellman's light mayo

    I'm a convert to
    sainsburys tomato ketchup
    " breakfast cereals-think they're better than kellogs

I'm another one who won't compromise on children's shoes-I don't even buy clark's as I'm not impressed with the fit or quality. I tend to buy either start rite or continental brands, whichever is the best fit. I do however compromise on clothes and am quite happy to shop in Primark for some things, especially "play" clothes for the children
